I know that originally your lights and fan would come on when you pressed the passing switch. Does it still do that?

Should be no play at all. Maybe you could double up on the washers. The originals may be compressed from age.

Here are some thoughts you might want to consider:
1. This windshield is for rider protection and is not really intended to protect any components on the scoot.
2. The dashboard is designed to be out in the weather. The quality of the Chinese water and weather proofing may or may not be good. The individual electrical connections should be sealed to prevent moisture from entering.
3. The windshield is mounted with rubber washers at each mounting screw. It shouldn't rattle unless the washers are missing or the screws are loose. My windshield does not rattle.
4. Anything you seal with caulk or silicon may be difficult to take apart for servicing.

There is always a small amount of drag with disc brakes. They are designed to operate like this and are self adjusting.

Hope it works out OK, speedracer. We'll be waiting to hear the results. I have read about using the magnets from old computer hard drives to try and do the same thing. They are supposed to be very strong.

When done properly, a soldered connection gives you the best electrical connection. Make sure the connections are isolated from each other with heat shrink tubing or liquid tape. I like the heat shrink.

What? It's blue? Now Luke, you know that you can get at least a 5 mph improvement with a couple a spray cans of red. Don't be discouraged. I think blue is real cool.

Now you know why I kept insisting on getting both taillights working. The wiring in these scoots can do very weird things which may even be against Ohm's law. The taillight circuit is a good clue to your problem and maybe THE problem. The taillight is certainly in a high vibration area. Make sure the connectors are tight and there are no chafed wires. You may have to do some soldering or terminal replacement as the Chinese crimping isn't the best. It certainly looks like you are zeroing in on the problem.

What type of gas do you use on Jonway yy250t? I also use premium in my YY250T. There is one station a couple of towns away that sells racing fuels which is probably the only way I could get gas without ethanol. Many scootists have tried regular (87 octane) with good results. I would try adding about a gallon or two when the tank is low and see how you like it. Let us know what happens. Eventually I want to try the lower octane. Might do it now that the cool weather is here.

Remember that the stator output is AC volts. Also, the 3 yellow wires on the regulator/rectifier are input wires not outputs. If the stator is still not producing AC according to specs, you might also want to verify with this quick continuity check: mpsracing.net/helix-manual/17-04.html

I agree with the Dr. I would go with the auto enricher though. They are quite reliable and do a good job when everything else is right. It is very basic - no electronics or computers involved. Just a heating element which runs off the stator (2 wires). Some engines may do better with a manual choke, but the 244cc seems to do very well with an auto enricher.

Well, that was a scary situation. You had a couple of things going for you. It was a cooler time of the day and maybe the synthetic oil helped protect the engine. Also, the low pressure oiling system on these scoots is more immune to interruptions in oil pressure.

My scoot would not pass inspection in my state with one taillight out. Your one taillight might be the usual, but both are supposed to be on according to the wiring diagram. Does this taillight work with the passing switch? Have you checked to see if the license plate light works? This may or may not be related to your main problem, but it should be fixed. Maybe it's just the bulb. LED upgrades are very popular.
Sounds like you could use a "backup" scoot like my VIP50. If we were scootin' buds I would be happy to loan you my backup.
