The variator looks to be working right. Bad rollers would not destroy a belt, at least I can't see how. If the faces on the variator are not chewed up, I doubt it's the variator. I suspect that clutch. That thing had been burnt so bad, I suspect it's not functioning properly, and probably burning the belt. When the variator closes, and the belt rides up, the clutch is supposed to open and the belt rides down to the center. If the belt is not allowed to go to the extremes, one face (variator) is spinning faster than the other (clutch) and burning the belt. That's my theory. You really ought to bite the bullet and replace the whole thing. This is what I bought, it gave me a new bike. www.ebay.com/itm/DRIVE-FACE-CLUTCH-PULLEY-BELT-KIT-HAMMERHEAD-GT-STD-250-250CC-GO-KART-BUGGY-/322252934994?hash=item4b07c58f52:g:76kAAOSwFV9X1Eac&vxp=mtr

I didn't tighten the variator enough once, when the nut spins off the variator, the fins will get chewed off and make one hell of a racket. It doesn't just pop off, you'll know things are going bad.

I don't know about those slider weights, I don't have any experience with them yet. I would think they would last a lot longer than the round rollers. As for the clutch, if you can compress the spring with your hands, it probably needs replaced also. My old clutch I could compress the spring to an extent. The new one I need a puller. Not sure what that did to my ride. My scooter kicked like a mule, literally. My roller weights had black goop and 2 or 3 flat spots on every roller. There was a problem getting the variator off and I guess everyone before me just didn't bother. It was a mess. So I got that kit for $150, like a new scooter.
EDIT: Maybe those aren't slider weights. Not sure what you have, but I don't see any flat spots. Don't know why some are gold and some black. I don't have a lot of experience with these things, this is my first scooter, always had big bikes.

I just looked at your other thread. That clutch is cooked. The bell is blue! It shouldn't be blue, it's gotten way hot. Either rebuild it, or get a new one. This is what my new drive looked like when I installed it.

www.partsforscooters.com/106-107-Bando-CVT-Belt-906-22-5-30That looks to be the right belt. When I install a belt, I have to use a puller to compress the clutch to where the belt sits on up on the variator so I can tighten the variator without pinching the belt. There might be something else going on that made you break the belt in the first place. Is your rear axle spinning freely?

I replaced the entire drive for $150, variator, belt and clutch. Best thing I ever did. My clutch was very weak compared to the new one.

I ordered a Kenda K764 yesterday, probably get it on within a month, I still some some tread. This should do better than the K329 I have now, but it did cost another $15, so it will probably all come out in the wash.

Yea, I'm going to stick to the 120/90-10.

Does anyone know if a 130/90-10 rear tire will work on my Helix clone? It calls for a 120/90-10. A 10mm difference in width shouldn't rub, I would think. It's only 5mm on each side.

I worked in my switch housing once, can't remember why, but when I put it back together, the starter switch didn't go in quite right, and my starter was engaging now and then going down the road. Took it apart and paid close attention putting it back together, then everything was fine.

I had something in my tank stopping the fuel flow, I blew in the hose on the tank side of the fuel pump and dislodged it. You can try that. Does it have a fuel pump?? Could be the pump if you have one.

Somehow gas is flowing into your cylinder from the carb, that's the only way it can get in there. The float isn't stopping the flow of gas and the overflow is plugged. But that much fluid is puzzling. If there is that much gas, then it is syphoning into the intake from the tank. I'd rebuild or replace the carb.

Looking for tires for my Helix clone. I put on a Kenda on the rear about 3000 miles ago, and I'm getting down there, maybe 500 miles to go, or so. After riding Harleys, 3500 miles on a tire is stupid, but these little tires do a lot of work. I like the Kenda, it wasn't real sticky so I guess it lasted longer than a sticky tire would. Which brings me to my question, are Pirelli real sticky? I think they are, but I've never bought them. Bridgestone is another option, but they are more money and I don't think they are real sticky, though I've never bought one of those either. I want as many miles as I can get, I only ride in the rain when I'm caught, and I'm usually only a few miles from home, so I'm not worried about the sticky. What say you? What tire is going to give me most miles?

Food for thought. I had (have) something in my tank that blocked off the fuel from leaving the tank. In my case, it shut it right down. I cleared it by blowing into the fuel line going to the tank. I can see a partial blockage doing what you describe. Allowing fuel flow to a certain point. the thing is still in there, when I get to about half a tank, it will plug things up. If I just stop and rock the bike it will fall out, and I'm good. Some day before I die I need to pull the tank and clean it out.
