Vibration

I think it's just normal. My trunk lid started vibrating and it just made me pay attention. I put a little cushion under the lid and quieted that, I think it's just the nature of a single cylinder 250cc that I'm feeling. Everything seems to be fine.

Practice. When you first got your wing I bet getting it on the center stand wasn't easy. I couldn't get mine on the center stand either for a while, now it's no problem. You'll figure it out. Put more of your weight on the center stand, and pull back on the passenger hand hold. Little girls can do it!

Wheel size also plays a big part. Your Goldwing had what, 16" or bigger, and you had three wheels. I had a Harley before this scooter. Shorter wheel base, smaller wheels, smaller everything except my fat butt. You learn to steer around things you used to glide over. I love my scooter!

That seems like a lot of miles on a 250cc, but I got a Helix clone a year ago and I see no reason it shouldn't go forever as long as oil is changed often and it gets coolant and fuel/air. I've put 4500 miles on it in the year I've had it, and it runs better than when I got it! Happy riding!

Vibration

For a while now I've been getting quite a bit of vibration from the engine. It wasn't always like that. I pulled the plug and it had burnt to about a .050 gap. I replaced it with a new one, but it didn't change anything. What could cause these little 250cc engines to vibrate abnormally??

I think I messed up. After wrestling with that variator, I got paranoid, even though it was not seized, there was something wrong with the splines. But anyway, I put anti -seize on the splines AND the threads on the variator and the clutch. I torqued them down pretty good with an impact, but I'm thinking I need to put blue loctite on the threads instead. What do you think?

Got my new parts in. The new sleeve went on like butter. Just went for a ride....so that's how it's supposed to work! Very nice, well worth the $150.

The sleeve was a real pain to get off those splines. I don't see anything on the sleeve or the shaft. A little rust, but in my opinion not near enough to cause such a problem. Does this shaft look ok to you? As note, the sleeve was not frozen, there was a little play in it. But, I had to use a puller, and I had to really crank on it. Just when I thought something had to give, the sleeve popped out about 1/4", and then it walked off, but not easy. So I'm hoping the new one will just slide on.
Hmmmm, can't post image.

The parts are coming ready to install. I was wondering if I need to use a little grease on the sleeve that the variator rides on. I might crack the variator open just out of curiosity, but I shouldn't need to do anything.
