Alleyoop Check out Goodeals.com and e-bay for motorcycle amps. Some of the amps have a plug for ipods with up to 500 watt amps. The radio I got was a cheap china one. It makes noise that is all I can say. Need a loud one hint hint... Triker98304

I have an Icebear Trike 150-9. I was getting about 50-55 mph top end. Since I live in a rual area and have to drive highways I decided to upgrade with performance parts. I ordered a performance variator, slider, CDI, coil, coil wire, spark plug, carb jets, clutch spring, clutch, kevalar belt and header pipe and muffler from ScrappyDog Scooters for only $393.00. The parts arrived, the header pipe and muffler were for a regular scooter not the trike. After 3 weeks of sending emails I was told to send the pipe and muffler back at my expense. In return a store credit was issued. I do not know for how much. but a credit was there. I nstalled the CDI and coil. Had to look all over the trike to find the CDI. On my trike it was in the nose section up by the handle bars. The coil at the rear of the trike follow the spark pluf wire. Changed the spark plug and wire. Now for the hard stuff...the clutch and variator. The variator did not look much different than the original but they were the parts master, me just a dummy. It was installed. The idler sleeve was a little tight. I thought it was performance related, no problem. It was installed and torgued down. The clutch assembly was taken apart with out any problems, I watched the videos on u-tube for help. And searched this forum. No problem wverything went together seemingly fine. Took the trike out fot the maiden voyage. got 1/2 mile from home a loud metal clank and the the belt, variator and slider went flying into the woods. I managed to find 2 broken sliders and the variator backing plate,,,nothing else. I called ScrappyDog and they said there was a warranty on the variator if a "qualified shop had installed it". But since I did the work no coverage. Since ScrappyDog owed me for the pipe and muffler they sent me another variator, sliders and belt. I could not wait to get the parts installed and feel the enhanced speed...WRONG. I had lost 15mph. I could do 45mph. So I thought the carb had to be the problem. I trailered my trike 70 miles to have the carb re-jetted. The shop I took it to had great testimonials. They did re-jet the carb. When I picked up the scooter I was told that ScrappyDog had sent me two main jets and that I would have to get an idle jet or put up with a slight hesitation on take off. Well almost $300.00 later I picked up the trike expecting miracles... Miracles were not received. The bike still ran at 45 mph...with a sputter and hesitation. So I put every thing but the carb and the new kevalar belt back to stock. The trike runs at 45 mph. So after about $$$$ the trike runs worse than it originally did. I living in the dog house, you married guys know what I am talking about... trying to figure this whole mess out. Any expert advise would be helpful... Buyer beware of the suppliers and repair shops when you start upgrading...Triker98304

Unless there is a problem. I ordered the performance parts and they were less than performance anything. The prices reflect the quality of the parts. I was and still am not happy with ScrappyDog's parts or service. PM me for more info if you want it. Triker98304.

Thanks for the reply Alleyoop, I ordered a "performance muffler and header pipe from the above mentioned supplier and of course it would not fit so I returned it. So they owed me for the pipe and muffler. Since i could not get the correct pipe and muffler I opted for getting the lost parts from the variator disaster. The parts got here today the variator looks different. This one has markings on it. Looks like the maker is KOSO High Speed CAM. It has larger/longer splines where the variator slides back and forth. The sliders are ForExtreme 11 Gram. Hope this works. When you installed the 1500RPM Spring on your clutch were you able to squeeze the belt and the clutch compress very easy? At first I could not get the belt on. The next attempt I ate my Wheaties and the belt basically fell on the clutch and around the variator. That sound weired but not good. But something had to be wrong or it would not have let loose... Any ideas??? The variator nut from Buggies NW should be here tomorrow so I will be putting it back together ASAP and riding again. Wish me luck. Any words of wisdom will be appreciated. Triker98304

I purchased the performance variator from Scrappydog Scooters. I was similar to the Dr Pulley according to the information given. I also put in the 1500 clutch spring. Any ideas why I lost so many MPH ? Unless the variator was bad to begin with. The idler bushing was very tight on the shaft and I hesitated to leave it there. Hindsight I should not have left it on the Trike. Oh well live and learn. Any suggestions for the next time when the parts get here? Thanks Have a great day. Triker98304

Thanks Alleyoop, I will contact them tomorrow. Long Story about the disappearing parts. I installed the performance variator, sliders and clutch. Put about 25 miles on them. Had the cover off to adjust the sliders if necessary. And the idler bushing froze. Everything went flying. The new belt sliders, however I did find two broken sliders. The performance variator blew up. What can you say...I ordered a new set and debating on the slider weight. What are you using? 12 gram??? After the install I noticed that I lost about 15 mph, probably the variator jamming. Well to rebuild another day. Thanks again Triker98304

I need to know the size and metric thread for the nut that holds on the variator on an icebear trike 150-9. Any one know the size and thread pitch???/ The performance variator idler bushing froze and blew up the new performance variator I installed about 25 miles ago. The nut belt and parts ended up in the woods somewhere So I have to get a new one HELP. Thanks Triker98304

Header pipe and muffler « Thread Started Today at 3:33pm »
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So after installing the variator, sliders, clutch spring CDI and coil I now need to find a header pipe and muffler to complete the build. I have seen the article on the "supertrapp muffler" but I can not find information on the header pipe. What do I need to tell the parts supplier to get the muffler and pipe that will fit and work on the Icebear trikes? Mine is the 150-9 trike. I ordered the performance parts from Scrappy Dog Scooters and the muffler they sent was way to big. I know the muffler has to be a free flow @12" long. But what about the header pipe what do I order or tell them to get me the correct parts?
Just FYI I took my trike in to a local repair shop to have the carb rejetted. I was not ready to tackle the carb yet. They took 4 hour of labor to disassemble R&R carb and put it back together. Costly repair but the take off and pulling really came to life. The other thing the master mechanic told me was to over inflate the rear tires to about 60 -70 lbs of air. This will decrease the wheel drag he said. What do you think? good advise or not?
Well hopefully I will get my trike to do 55+ so I can get on the highway without getting run over. I am getting closer. thanks for the groups input. Pics coming soon. Thanks again. Triker98304

Has any one out there installed a radio on a Icebear trike? I have the 150-9. I am lookin for the color code to find the ignition hot wire and the battery lead.
Tried a few wiring mishaps. Had power but flip the key on and it killed the radio/clock etc. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks Triker98304

Icebear trike 150-9. The rubber keeps lifting off the foot rest and slapping the back side of my leg. Will the rubber adhesive for weather stripping work to keep the rubber on the trike??? Thanks Triker98304

Thanks for the quick reply Alleyoop, Soon as possible I will be trying some of this. In the mean time I'll just put a few more miles on the trike. As of today it is running good and no problems yet, other than the chain guard breaking and falling down. Keep th rubber side down and the shiny side up. Triker98304

Ok, So how do I get more top end, cheaply. There is alot of stuff on performance on the GY6 engine. Seems like the more you-all do the more problems you are haveing. I am running stoc 150-9 Icebear Trike. I an old dog trying to run 15+ miles on the highway every day. I only have 300+ miles on the trike. For now the cars just pass me. Oh well I can't drive 55.
