Sliders- For every gram up or down the rpms will change by 200-350 Rollers- For every gram up or down the rpms will change by 500-600 I would not mix the weights 3 and 3 of different weights the problem is there is not enough weight to really get good top end and to get it higher rpms are needed due to 3 heavy and 3 lights. So to get the 3 lights to reach the same spot on the ramp to equal the heavy weights more rpms are required. Also rattling of the light weights will be heard due to the heavy weights pushing out the variator and the light weights will be trailing behind in open space. Alleyoop Thanks Alley, I did look for this info before I posted...didn't find that well written tutorial of yours. I won't mix the weights, looks like the 14's will do what I'm trying to accomplish. Don't really care about top end, rarely do more than 45 mph, just want to calm down the cruise rpm's....thanks again...Bob

Due to a nail puncture late last fall, I replaced my rear tire, and put the scoot up for the winter. Even tho I purchased a tire marked the same as the original (120x70x12), it is a little smaller. My first clue came this spring... on my first ride I noticed the engine rpm's were running about 300 more than they used to, at a steady 40 mph. (spend a lot of time at this speed, cruising the country roads). Can't see cranking the engine at 6300 to maintain 40 on a level stretch of road...When I got back, I measured the circumference of the old and new tires....new one is 1.5" less.
To make up for this, and too slow the engine speed down, I have ordered a set of variator weights (14 gram sliders). Currently running 12 gram sliders.
My question is: how much difference does a one gram increase in weight make in rpm's? Looking to trim them by 500 or so...thinking about a combo of 12's & 14's to equal 13.....I know trial and error would answer my question....thought someone here, might be able to save me from having to take things apart twice.....Hill Billy Bob

The local Sunoco has 100 octane at the pump. I might just give it a try. After all, the scooter doesn't hold that much since it's kind of expensive. Is it as costly as $4.48 a gallon I paid for non ethanol (91 octane) last Thursday? Regular (87 octane, 10% ethanol), was priced at $3.79....that's $.69 a gallon difference....but, since new, my average mpg has been 75....that figures out to less than 1 penny per mile extra cost, to run non ethanol....1/2 oz of MMO per fill up doesn't hurt either....well worth it , to me anyhow....Bob

You may think I'm cheap....I prefer frugal....but I use soap and water to clean my $70 Slip Streamer the scooter wears, also on the Cee Bailey mounted on the BMW....HB Bob

You can probably blame our ethanol laced gasoline for your failed diaphragm, good reason to seek out and use non ethanol gas, if available where you are.

Maybe I'm out of touch when it comes to food prices, and need to go shopping more often...the last time I bought eggs they were less than $2 a dozen (like $1.79/ $1.89). We use a dozen and a half a week, the rest are given to daughters, neighbors, and the like. Some of our hens will be 4 years old next month, others turn 3 about the same time...don't lay like they once did....I know...put um in the stew pot.....well ours all have names...when they see me walk toward the coop, they'll run 100 yards to catch me and beg for some scratch grain, the wife calls me the Pied Piper the way they follow me around. Cooking them is not going to happen. Then, the breeds I have are not high production birds to start with, save one or two California Whites the rest, Lakenvelders and Golden Campines, kinda like blue eyed blonde's, nice to look at, but not the most sensible choice. Another misc. expense I have is the heat lamp in winter (1 with temps below 20*, 2 with single digits or lower), as cold as this winter was, we never had frozen water in the coop or frost bitten combs or wattles.
Then, around here, ya need a good rifle, and ammunition, to keep the meat eaters at bay. Fox - 5 or 6 (lost count), raccoons - 2, skunk - 1, opossum -1. The skunk and opossum were eating eggs in the coop (middle of the afternoon). Two of the foxes had chickens by the neck, the others hadn't quite caught them yet. I won't admit to dispatching any birds of prey, but we do have hawks here, and I do own a shot gun.
Still think it's cheaper to buy....but I like chickens...Bob

Update...no scootin' today, 32* and winds from the north...the grass and porch have a bit wet snow sticking ...at 5:00 PM Monday, I took the wife out for a ride on the BMW, after about 3 miles, she asked me to pull over, so she could remove her jacket, even stopped for an ice cream cone...now today I've thinking more along the lines of a bowl of chili....this sucks....Bob

Back yard chickens is a great site, all kinds of info....We've had chickens years ago, when the kids were young ( in their 40's now) and got back into them when I retired back in January 2010. It is a labor of love, and cheaper to just buy eggs at the store, but some of us just enjoy having chickens around...that being said, our 16 chickens are free range, we have 34 acres...keeping them in town would be a horse of a different color...but more and more people are doing it. Check out that web site, and if you're willing to deal with the mess they manufacture, then go for it...Bob link

There are less expensive, Chinese versions, of these on eBay. I bought one almost 2 years ago for my scoot...still works fine. There is a 2 or 3 second lag or delay in rpm changes, but that is no big deal, at least not to me. For the price of the ones Alley linked, you could buy 3 like the one I have, plus have enough left over for a tank of gas...Bob

If your gas tank is under your feet, (as I believe it is) you'll probably find the vent hose is located toward the left side of the tank. If so, I've found that it helps if you park your scoot on the center stand after fueling, rather than using the side stand...and as stated by others, don't fill past the metal bar...Bob

Bob, what type of scoot is that in your avatar? Looks good. Nice weather is right around the corner. Thanks for the compliment Ordered it through County Imports in California as a CMS 150 Milan...Data plate says Jonway. Made under many other names also Roketa, Lance, BMS, etc. It's been a good scooter so far (knock on wood), that rear tire is the first repair I've had to make. Did a good PDI before starting it the first time, think that's the key to these little China dolls, and I don't drive it like I stole it....HB Bob

So 50mpg on a 50cc would be a problem If it were my scooter it would be. The 150cc scoot in my profile picture has covered 3045.3 miles since it's first fill-up (Apr 18,2012), til it's last (Apr 13, 2014). In that time span, I have put 40.401 gallons of gas in the tank. That works out to 75.37 mpg average for every mile since new. Also should say that I replaced the original 105 main jet with a 115, when miles on odometer were 366 to compensate for air box removal, and K&N cone filter install. After all, isn't fuel economy about the only advantage a 50cc has over a larger displacement scooter?
