I don't have a Honda, but my fuel tank has two lines or hoses coming out of the top of it. One is the feed to the fuel pump, and the other is a vent line. The gas cap is not vented, so the only way to get air into the tank to replace the gas being drawn out, is through this line. So if it is a vent, just place a cheap gas filter on the end, (just to keep crap out) and zip tie it somewhere high on the frame....Bob

What gives us the right to tell someone else what he should be driving. I know our country is leaning to the left a bit lately...but give me a break...if someone wants a pickup to drive back and forth to work, instead of a car, the choice is his...not his neighbor's.....Bob

David, as a Viet Nam Veteran myself, (Sept 66 thru Mar 68), I totally agree with you. Memorial Day is for those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Those of us who serve, and are lucky enough to survive, get "our day" in November.....Bob

Tire woes

"Tire Woes"....Boy, do I know that feeling. Last summer I picked up a nail with the rear tire of my BMW, then two months later, same thing on the scoot. Those SOB's that run around with loose nails in the beds of their pickups, oughta be shot. I replaced both tires with new, I will plug an atv, tractor, lawn mower even a pickup, or car tire to be used as a spare....but a scooter or bike tire....not me...I'll buy a new one....Bob

A few weeks ago I changed the sliders in my variator to 14 gram, from 12 gram. The reason for the change was discussed in another thread...but anyway I couldn't be happier with the results. I've logged 241 miles with the new setup...my last two fill ups have provided an average mpg of 82.69.(184.9miles, 2.236 gallons) For all of last summer my scoot got 76.71mpg. I don't care about acceleration times, too old to be in much of a hurry. Still has plenty of hill climbing ability, and just loafing along at 5400 to 5700 while running my preferred 40 to 45mph, is bound to extend the life of my little engine.
With a more conservative driving style than most, this change in weights, has far exceeded my expectations.....My scoot and I are both happier....Bob

I am pretty sure most all the chinese speedo's are all km. I am sure they just have 2 face plates to choose from, mph or km. Well, my scooter, like kz1000st's, measures in miles. I get the same 6.8 one-way reading when making morning coffee runs to McDonald's, whether I take the scoot, the motorcycle, the pickup, or the Camaro.....but 10000 kilometers is still pretty impressive....bet most 50cc's are trashed a long time before reaching that mark...Bob

I may be wrong about this, but I would think that your odometer is counting kilometers, since the speedo's primary numbers are KPH...still pretty impressive, and twice the distance I've put on my 2011 150cc...you must be doing something right...keep it up.....Bob

I don't know much about trikes, even less about golf carts....just wondering...are golf cart tires really rated for highway use and speeds? ....Bob

Ya know, not everyone is cut out to ride around on two wheels. It's beginning to sound like you may fall into that group. If you don't figure out what you're doing wrong, and pretty darn soon...I don't think you are long for this world.....Sorry if this offends you....just calling it as I see it...Bob

My scooter is a long case, has 120x70x12 tires...came from factory with 10 gram rollers. But this means nothing, unless you have the same make and model....you will have to experiment, unless you can find someone with the same scoot as yours, who knows what came factory installed.
I'm not a variator expert by any means....but I just found out that even a change in tire brand (same size tire, just different brand), can necessitate a change in variator weights.....Bob

Beautiful Beemer there bud. Are they still making the C? I don't see them around anymore. The last time I bought a cruiser I was torn between your bike and a Vulcan. The Kawi dealer made me an offer I just could not refuse. The Beemer dealer just stared at me. Still....pretty bike. I had an 800 and 1000 Beemer at one time or another. Rich No Rich, not made anymore, only produced from 97 thru 04. If anyone was looking to find one, I would suggest a website called Chromeheads.org, works a lot like this one (tech help, classifieds, etc, etc)... Picked this one up last May 15th, with just 5,771 miles on it....and get this....for less than the cost of a new Vespa 150. I really wondered if the miles were right, or if someone had fiddled with the odometer, but at 7,100 miles, I found a small nail in the rear tire to be the cause of a slow leak that had been bothering me. Upon further inspection, I discovered that both front and rear tires (neither of which were near being worn out), had manufacture dates of the third month of 1998. Needless to say, both were replaced with new Pirelli's. I no longer wonder about the odometer. Beemers are hard to get out of your system...I bought a new R60/5 in 1973...rode it for years, then sold it. Once you've had one, sooner or later, the bug bites ya again, and you have to have another one. This AM, the beemer stayed home while the scoot and I rode 28 miles to get a McDonald's coffee and a Mother's Day card...and oh yeah, a gallon of non ethanol gas. So far this spring, I've put twice as many miles on the scoot as I have on the cruiser....Bob

KZ...I too, ride a Chinese Scooter because I want to, not because I have to. And, as you, I can afford to ride what I want....Don't let the scooter snobs get to ya...not good for your blood pressure, or overall well being....Bob "My scooter's stable mate"

I pulled the 12 gram, and installed the 14 gram sliders this morning...rpm's at 40 mph have dropped from 6300 to 5700....Mission accomplished....Bob
