30 degrees is pretty cold for any bike motor. If you use it constantly at that temp you should run some Seafoam in the gas. It will keep crap from forming in the gas tank. 30 degrees is bad for the bike? I rode it last winter and so far all winter this year without any problems from the cold. I don't like putting additives in my vehicles, but everyone on here just loves the seafoam. I dropped it off at the shop this morning though because its still much harder than normal to get started. However the adjustment per Ally made alot of difference and it now seems to run better at lower speeds in traffic to My mechanic tells me that my using it 70 miles a day is why its lasted so long, he says that sitting around all the time ruins scooters and motorcycles. He is always surprised that the GY6 has made it 26,000 miles though. I am going to ride it until something major goes at this point which hopefully for my wallet won't be for a long time LOL... we shall see. Surely someone else has broken the 25,000 mile mark on a Chinese scooter?

Wow it did start easier this morning, but not like it was just a few weeks ago before this problem started happening. I still think I might have another issue but this was definitely in need of adjustment it seemed. I didn't notice it having anymore power though darn-it.
I'll keep an eye on it today and tomorrow and see how it does.

So I played with it a little more this afternoon and with all the plastics off I realize the radiator fan is kicking on and off just a quiet little devil. So I assume the sending unit one has failed and I'll replace as soon as I get it in the next few days.
There was no gas in the canister, but I will keep that in mind incase I ever drop the bike.
Now my next question is this, if the coil is causing those shut downs I have a performance coil I bought for a previous gy6 150 scooter that looks identical to this one and from what I am reading all the GY6 engines use the same coil, is this true? If so I'll install this one on it tomorrow before I put it all back together and hope the stalling problem is fixed to.

Just a few quick tests I have done troubleshooting this problem found in various places online. I looped the two connectors on the radiator fan switch together and the fan came on and runs fine. I rode the bike for 15 miles and no stalls / shut downs when the fan is running constant.
I used a piece of wire and grounded the signal green wire connected to the thermostat body to the frame of the bike and the gauge went to past its hottest mark as expected. I ordered both the fan switch and thermostat housing switch so I will swap them later this week when I get them but I don't understand how they could both be bad at once.

I know the thermostat is opening because the hose and radiator get physically hot to the touch, but I think whatever electrical part responsible for operating the gauge and fan is dead. I just don't know which of the two sensors works which? I just ordered both from scrappydog scooters. I guess I just replace them both and refill this system later this week when I get the parts.

makarov - that was my first thought. I check the coolant level and its fine (not easy to check though). radiator, hoses and thermostat housing are getting hot.
I am very new to these 244cc engines.

I am hoping someone can shed some light on my problem, I just purchased a used 2006 CF Moto V5 with 2230 miles on it from World of Wheels dealership here in Marietta, GA today. As I rode home all seemed well until the bike suddenly cut out in traffic. I got off the road and noticed that it seemed the starter button was un-responsive when pressed even though the lights and all were still on. I then discovered that the temperate gauge had never left the C mark in the whole 18 miles ridden so far. After about 10 minute the bike starts at the first push of the button and I am off and running only to have the same thing happen 6 miles down the road. Again I had no response on the start button and had to wait about 5 minutes or so. Never once has the radiator fan kicked on or the temp gauge registered anything but just below the C mark like it does when you start it cold. I see the sensor on the head on the thermostat body and the one on the bottom of the radiator but kinda clueless as where to start. Should I replace them both?
Which controls the gauge and fan, or if one gauge one fails does it keep the fan switch from working. Otherwise I am loving this bike, its SWEET!!!!! I'll post some pictures tomorrow.

Your not kidding bud! I swear I get so tired of hearing people calling them junk, yet now I am over 12,000 miles on this and still its going just fine. I tell them of my 3 vehicles which consist of 1 chinese scooter, 1 honda silverwing and the Ford Freestar guess which has stranded me twice this year requiring expensive tows both times??? F-O-R-D!!!

I understand what your saying, but its not pulled off, it just falls off once the part inside comes unscrewed from the cap completely. there is plenty of slack in the cable, but the piece inside of the boot that screws in simply becomes undone and stays on the plug top usually and the boot then just falls off since nothing is holding it on. If I have a screw driver handy I can even fix that one on the spot by screwing back into the boot and putting it on. I will look to see if there is a place to mount it down on the engine and have to extend the wiring to reach possibly. It's not that big of a deal really and now I unplug the wire at oil changes and tighten the thing up as a safety measure so I don't have two worry it will come undone.

To stop the Coil wire from being pulled off the plug and or boot cap, Move the whole Coil Closer to the Spark plug and make sure the COIL WIRE has some slack. That is a very common problem that people do not realize they can just move the entire COIL closer so the coil wire has slack. Alleyoop I'll look into that, but its only about 9 inches away from the plug now and has lots of slack. It's hard to describe this problem honestly. Never effected any other GY6 I owned like this one.

WOW!!!!!!!! 10,000 IN ONE YEAR THATS A LOT OF RIDING. LOL !!! im about to break 8,000 in about 2 1/2 yrs. she had 41 on her when i bought her
wow, keep on the PM and maybe another 10K Not really, I ride more than that each year. I ride 76 miles a day to work / home. 3 of the those are normally on the Automoto, other days on my Silverwing which now has 28,000 miles in 2.5 years of owning it.

So alot of people had originally asked me to report back on how I like my enclosed 3 wheel GY6 powered Automoto scooter. So here goes - its been really great for the first 10,000 and aside from belt changes that aren't really easy to do maintenance has been pretty simple. Automoto company has been pretty good if I needed a part or something, but almost all my maintenance items and belts I bought from scrappydogscooters. Tires were easily ordered from www.motorcyclesuperstore.com when I needed them and put on at my local cycle shop. I did pull the wheel from the bike though and just had them mount / balance. Back tires were worn out at 8000 and the front is still on there but getting skinny. The parking lock system is a PITA requiring alot of adjustments to keep it working right but otherwise efficient. I've changed the oil every 600 miles like the manual said to and always run Rotella 15w-40 as it sayes to. Gear oil changed every 2000 miles with 75w-90 synthetic and the belt replaced every 4000 miles per the book. No real problems to speak of except the spark plug boots fail alot on it. You'll be riding along and the bike will start missing and when you pull over and stop it will stall out. You'll see the plug wire hanging because the boot fails and comes off the plug. The piece inside it will be stuck on the plug. But the boot can be changed in under a minute and they are cheap so not a real big deal. I think its the constant movement of the cab that causes this. Coil is bolted to the cab which leans all the time, but engine isn't so its twisting and pulling alot. It's been a great ride and not sure what to expect out of this GY6 150cc engine in terms of mileage but the first 10,000 were pretty easy. Attachments:
