Sounds like your just not seating the gauge properly. The rear stem can be a real beatch to get the air gauge properly lined up. Try rotating the tire to get it in a better spot. I also use a small didgital gauge that is easier to line up.

Sorry the link didn't work so I posted them separately. How do you like my homemade trunk and side bags? The trunk is made out of reclaimed 1x12 barnwood and my old worn riding flag is recycled on the back. The lash points on the back are for my sleeping bag and the ones on the front are for my backpack. And if you think the side bags look like nylon briefcases it's because they are. Only $5.00 from the local thrift store for both. That's also my solar battery charger on the second pictue of the back of my trunk

;D Thought you might like to see my Cadillac Scoot Hub cap emblem I found on the side of the road. You should see some of the looks I get while riding. One guy even came over to me in a parking lot to ask if it really was a Caddy!!!

I have never heard anybody recommend anything less than 90 octane. I wouldn't personally use any lower grade. Anyway at the most a fill-up for me is only going to cost an extra 20 to 40 cents depending on the grade. I supose it wouldn't hurt once in a while in an emergency, but I won't use lower if I can help it.

:-[Sorry to hear about your problem. It's been a few years but I have used a thread repair product that worked pretty good. You coat the plug (bolt, screw, whatever) with a special no-stick compound and fill the hole with a paste that hardens rather quickly then srew the plug (bolt, screw...) into the hole until you feel it just start to tighten and then walk away and leave it alone. It should be set the next day. The plug should then be unscrewed and should not be attached to the repair because of the special no-stick compound applied to it. The plug has been in effect the mold for the new threads. I only wish I could remember the actual name or brand for you, but as I said its been a few years since I have used it. You should be able to find it at most automotive suppliers or Homedepot or Lowe's.
Hope this was helpful
