Yes, we got it running. I posted a video in that topic with it starting up. Now all that's left is to get the Vespa Piaggio Ciao running.

I'm feeling okay. My leg isn't in any active pain anymore. It's just sore. So I think I'll be okay.

Apparently it didn't run before WE took the carb off. He tried to take it apart and clean it himself but he didn't know you weren't supposed to take the intake manifold and reeds off. So he ended up accidentally putting the reeds in backwards, and just assumed that cleaning the carb is what did it. He brought it to us and we cleaned the carb without knowing what he did, and he never told us. But all it took was the flipping over the reeds and now it runs great!

We do not have a compressor air gun, unfortunately. I'm not looking for perfect. I was hoping there was a product out there that comes with a small paint brush and just get a similar color. And I'm not scared to ride now, I love it too much to be scared. I rode home from my friends house today and I was okay.

I never looked or paid attention to what hit what. All I know is that I hit the ground hard and then my motor cut out. I didn't look at the helmet for damage, but my neck IS killing me too. I guess the adrenaline wore off.

I was wearing a full faced helmet with the visor down, long sleeve shirt covered with a long jacket, and long pants. I was going about 20-25. Anybody know how to match paint? I can paint over the scratches.

Just took my first fall on my scooter. Hit a pothole and lost control. Wiped out and the back end of my scooter smashed into my leg. Not much damage to the bike..just some scratches to the back of the mirror and the front fender broke off. I'm okay though. Just a really painful leg.

Well I got most everything working. At this point it's just tracking down what's causing the brake light to be constantly illuminated. The running lights were simply an unplugged connection. By the way, the running lights come on with the ignition, not the headlights. The headlights come on when the bike starts. The switch that you would think would turn off the headlights and/or dash lights does not function. I have a sneaking suspicion it never did anything in the first place (never tried it). So we are going to take the plastics off again probably tomorrow and dig into the wiring to see if we can maybe get that brake light unstuck. Going by your initial statement?
If it was indeed working correctly before you took it apart look for the yellow/green crossed with the brown. This is the only way that the brake lights will stay on all the time......unless you had/have a stuck brake light switch to begin with and didn't know it?
JR
What I meant by the headlights are always on is that there is no way to turn them off once the bike is started. That's what I meant. Sorry for the confusion. I just didn't mention the switch on the right side of the handle bar doing nothing until now because I thought that was a universal switch that applied to all scooters. I guess not! I know the brake switch is not stuck because the starter will not engage unless I squeeze the brake.

Tried to figure out why my gas gauge wasn't working today (and made vicious 12v sparks along the way), so I pulled out the fuel sending unit. What was once a white hollow plastic float... Is now a brown, solidified piece of mush. Now I have little bits of solidified plastic in my tank somewhere. And also the fuel sensor is trashed as well. Already ordered a new one. Boy oh boy.

All of this is great advice. I am going to try to get him to come back here so we can try a few things. I'll keep you updated.

Hello? Anything happen with the wiring? I see on another thread that:
Okay, so my friend has a 2000 Yamaha Razz Riva 50cc scooter. Last year it was running, but it had a few issues with running. So we took the carb off, took it apart, cleaned it, and put it back together just as we took it apart. After that, it never ran again..We've tried and tried, but it's just not working. Have you given up your dream of opening a scooter repair emporium? I do have a suggestion....don't take them apart. I'm kidding! That's how we learn. Phasers to fun! Ahaha, haven't given up quite yet. We have three Chinese Scooters in the garage, none of them were running when we got them and now they are (two of them thanks go you guys). We also HAD a Honda Spree that didn't work, but we fixed that also and then flipped it. Now we have a 1973 Vespa Piaggio Ciao with a blown head gasket that we are repairing (and keeping). Also we are repairing our friends Yamaha Razz (obviously, that's what the topic is about!), and also his other scooter we can't identify. So I guess you're right, maybe we SHOULD open up a repair emporium :3 Also I'm going to actually take a look at the wiring again today. I've just been busy for the past couple days.
