Well, we have got a theory going, actually. Remember when I said we had our suspicions that we (and by we I mean my dad) may not have installed the head gasket? It's starting to look a bit more plausible. What doesn't make sense it that it seems like it has compression. The weird part is that when the starter is cranking, the exhaust lets out a puff of air AND sucks in at the same time (pulling your finger into it if it is sufficiently close to the exhaust). The carb was just taken apart the other day and the jets are perfectly clean, and I already turned the air-fuel mixture ratio screw in and then out roughly 2 1/2. The enrichener may or may not be working.

The spark plug is 100% dry (no fuel), and has plenty of spark when placed up against the valve cover. Could the carb be really just clogged up and not letting ANY fuel get to the engine?

This darned thing still won't start. Ziptied the fuel drain line and the carb is no longer losing fuel. Everything is hooked up correctly to the best of my knowledge. Fuel is hooked up to the fuel inlet, and the vacuum line is functioning correctly (fuel is being pulled). The fuel gets to the filter, and then the filter fills up. The filter is completely full, with no fluctuation, as if the carb isn't getting the fuel! Why?
Edit: Just in case, I bypassed the fuel filter, still no difference. I have no idea what's happening at this point. Is it time to take the carb apart and clean it again?

It is coming of the carb bowl drain. It is leaking with extreme pressure, also (nothing we can do to stop it).

Well, that didn't work out as expected. We took the carb apart and cleaned it thoroughly, and checked on the float and needle, and they were working as expected (sealing when full and vice versa). So why would the carb be dumping fuel if it isn't flooding?

After countless hours of working on my dad's bike, we are nearing completion of it. We helicoiled the head so that we could put a spark plug in, so that is now fixed. So anyways, we tried to start it, and it FAILED miserably. At first we weren't getting any fuel from the gas tank. We primed the carb with fuel and cranked it over, that got vacuum going and now we have fuel going to the carb. Only problem now is that the carb just dumps whatever fuel is has right out the overflow, so it never gets to the engine, and as such, never starts! Why would a carb be dumping all it's fuel out the overflow? PS: If you forgot to put a head gasket on, would the bike have compression? My dad has a sneaking suspicion that he forgot to put on the head gasket/failed to put on a new head gasket despite the fact that he took apart the bike just to put a new one on

well hard to post a vid cause im on my phone but normally i listen to Boston, Pink Floyd and Creedence Clearwater Revival I personally haven't heard of Boston, but I have heard of Pink Floyd (who hasn't?) and Creedence Clearwater Revival. I don't actively listen to them but I'm sure everyone has heard one of Pink Floyd's songs at some point in their life Alright, I'll bite... I saw this topic pop up earlier and at first, it didn’t interest me. As I cruised the forum, it kept showing up and I kept ignoring it. Then, I saw your post about getting your driver’s license (congrats by the way) and that finally convinced me to reply to you here. I’m am experiencing the very unique opportunity of being a first-time, full-time, on-campus, college freshman...at 32. It never occurred to me just how far away I am from 18 until I started spending every day with 18 year olds. I feel like I’m from a different planet. You asked, so let me show you some music from my planet. Sexiest Guitar Riff Ever: Most Seamless Album: Best Album: www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL50rhjS8p3RAt4DADC_f2dixKFEeYV11fBest Songwriter: Tom T. Hall… here’s a taste Best Frontman: David Lee Roth… Worst Frontman: Gary Cherone… (Both fronted Van Halen) Best Guitarist: Nuno Bettencourt… Best Lyrics: Band that Killed Rock and Roll: Ironically Enough, Band that Saved it: Biggest A-Hole: Axl Rose… Best Image: Slash………… Happiest Song: Saddest Song: Best Concert I’ve seen: 2nd Best (Shockingly): Worst Concert: Toss Up...http://youtu.be/Bzr654bwU-w or (Both surprised me. I expected better.) Only current band I listen to: My Favorite Band: Wow! What a detailed reply! I can tell you like a lot of rock music I actually went through all of those, and I really liked Uprising by Muse, probably because it's something I've heard on the radio. Sure, it's not something I would put on my iPod necessarily, but I do enjoy the beat it has My dad likes Queen, so I'm sure you and him would get along well (too bad he doesn't do this thing we call the internet)!

Out of curiosity, I want to know what all my fellow scooter'ers like to listen to. Post your favorite song as of right now, what you are listening to if anything, and your favorite kind of music.
Me personally, I'm all into EDM (Electronic Dance Music such as dubstep, electro house, progressive house, etc), and I'm listening to this right now

Going from a scoot to a car has its advantages. You take nothing for granted on the road. I know, there are a lot of stupid people out there. I'm not a speed demon like my brother is. It's bad to have a 4.6L V8 when your brother is a speed demon! I try my best to be very careful... PS: It doesn't help that it's a Mustang engine...(but not a Mustang) it kicks off HARD. I mean, stupid amounts of torque if you put the throttle down! It's a scary thing! My brother decided to go off on his own for the first time today and the first thing he did was do 70 in a 50 mph zone!!!!! I would never do that, personally...
