true enough about annoying the neighbors, but depends on where you live. I live on an acre of property, and the neighbors probably can't hear the alarm enough to either help or be annoyed, but I can hear it from inside my motorhome. Actually, the flashing red armed light is probably more useful than the actual alarm for warding off the casual grab n run. Make it too much work, and they will go on to easier pickin's.

Thought i'd wait for others to chime in on locks.. The steering lock is extremely flimsy on most scooters, and can just be popped. At a minimum, use a disk brake lock, preferable with alarm. Of course, it's hard to justify spending $100.00 if the scooter only cost $500. On my 250, I also installed a Gorilla Cycle Alarm, with tilt, tamper sensors, and flashing armed light (that's after it was stolen when I only used the column lock, recovered a day later missing the carburator). Mostly, these locks just keep the scooter from being rolled down the road. A stealing for profit crew usually uses 3 guys and a truck, so they just pull up and two guys toss the bike into the back. Others simply insure the bike for replacement value, and consider that security enough.

At or near full throttle the engine is just screaming. You won't get anywhere that much quicker at WFO than you will at a nice cruise. True enough. That guy you just ripped past 2 lights ago is usually sitting at the third light with you. Of course, once in a while you do make all the lights and life is golden....

If it's not wet under the scooter, then I have to believe that someone is stealing the gas. I'm not sure that you could pump that much fuel into a scooter engine and have it run in any kind of usable fashion. Oops, there is one case. Brake lockup. Put the scoot on the center stand. Spin the back wheel, lift the front, spin the front wheel. There should be some resistance on the back but I think you will notice if its unusual. A little resistance on the front is to be expected, but not much.. hope it helps.

Sucks to have to wait, but there will always be another nice one come by. That one must have been assembled late on a Casual Friday afternoon. Kind of wonder if they would put a "born on" date, like with some beers, if they would find that no-one would buy the Friday batch.

Majesty would be my choice for that price, then Reflex or Helix.. Depending on condition, none of that list seems unreasonably priced..

I third the thought. Actually anything in the 250cc to 400cc range is going to be a fun "upgrade", though it isn't an upgrade, it's an addition. Motorcycles in that size range aren't going to be an excessive weight or size change to what you are familiar with. More power, sure, but after a few days of riding, you will get the throttle amount sorted out. The thing to watch out for is to remember that you have a clutch when it comes time to stop. Just putting on the brakes won't do it. But you will learn. After awhile, it becomes second nature, along with downshifting. Then the problem becomes remembering when you are on the scooter, that the left lever is NOT a clutch.. That will probably get you once or twice. Learning is at least half the fun...

Did you read the comments below the pics? It alleges that it is the Chinese who are using these. Anyhow, kind of a waste of a perfectly good 1500cc Goldwing.. Not that it shouldn't be able to pull a toyota or two..
