Ah, that's right richardv, I've lived in Vegas for so long that i'd forgotten that sometimes things need to be heated.. And yes, kind of dumb. If the carb is frozen, then the engine can't run to heat the water to heat the carb. I suppose there might be a use in extreme weather where the engines are running at all times while outside and if the carb is exposed. Was stationed in Alaska years ago where we never shut off the engines on the trucks except when inside heated hangers, but don't recall any special mods to the carbs..

A lot of them show the water hookups, but I don't think any are actually used that way. My original just has those capped. A hold over from the old days, I think..

congrats to the OP on doing the job himself. The more you do, the easier it becomes, and you save both time and money by working on your own things..And seriously, hot humid sticky Florida for riding? Well, we can't all live and ride in the Nevada sunshine, I guess...  |

Just under $2.00 per gallon in Vegas. Still see lots of scooter riders on the road. Weather has been into the mid 70's, so that brings out the casual riders, too. Me, I ride all year round, and dress accordingly.

and, of course, check to make sure the kill switch didn't get changed from the run position.. Found that the hard way!!

I've done that on my 250 as well. As long as you keep it to 10 mph or so, it doesn't get squirrelly, and it seems that there is enough meat on the tire for the rim to run on without damage. I don't like to do it, but it's worked for me a couple of times, even on my 1200 Yamaha.

Know what kind of bothers me about the Fly 150cc ad? Easily seats 2 or 3. High mileage 2000mi. I don't see many 150 or 250cc scooters come up on craigslist in Las Vegas, so I don't know how regional the prices are for those, but we do have lots of 50cc's listed, and most owners seem to want close to new prices, sometimes more, sometimes just a little less.

The Green Bay scoot is excellent. So, I updated my avatar. I work in a graphics design shop, so occasionally I "vinyl" my 250..
Yeah, it's hard sometimes to tell if the sellers with the stupid high prices are trying to scam, or they just feel that their bike is worth more than the new in crate price because they've broken them in for you.. Happy riding....

on my 250 there is a switch on the right hand control between the red kill switch and the yellow start button. that is fairly common.

And for the summer heat, I recommend Heat Out t shirts $10.00 if you can get 'em on sale, kool tie neck wraps around $5.00, and for even better, a hyperKewl vest around $50-$80 (My first summer with one of these. Worn under a mesh riding jacket in 100+ heat, it feels like around 75).
