Good to hear from you, Nards. Looking forward to hearing about your experiences. I think you will be happy. I wasn't in the original conversations. My 2008 produced roketa mc-79-250, (actually a Sampo Steed produced by Sampo motors) bought at a brick and mortar in 2011 has served me well. I'm just over 11,000 miles on it. My only quality problems have been cheap plastics, ie instrument needles melting and warping in the sun. I did bend a rim two years ago, by hitting a hole that a construction crew had made and left unmarked in the dark. My engine is the Yamaha/Linhai clone, and I have no complaints there. Enjoy the ride..

Just another thought.. It's generally thought that manufacturers under calibrate the speedos on the high end, but the odos take their input from the cable before the calibration. What can happen is if a manufacturer makes several sizes of bikes, but only used one universal speedo gauge, then there will be deviation from a scooter with 12" tires versus one with 15" tires, both on the speedo and the odo..

Nope, I wouldn't assume that. What I have found is that sometimes the speedometer is in mph and the odometer is in kph. One way to check is to find two streets that are one mile apart. Check the odo at the first street, and then at the 1 mile street. If it shows a few 1/10s over a mile, then it's probably in kph. Hope that helps...

Might just be me, but usually when it rains in the summer in the desert, I'll go stand in it for awhile. And if it's been a long while since I've ridden in the rain, I'll wait for 1/2 an hour for the oils to get washed off the roads, and just take one of the bikes around the neighborhood, just to stay familiar with the handling in the wet. I do recommend that everyone should do that at least once. The worst time to learn to ride in the rain is when you are miles and miles from home.. Of course, around here, it's usually a series of short cloudbursts, and the weather service doppler radar site has helped me dodge the heavy stuff on the way to and from work a lot.. Happy riding..

Rain? Soaked? That's just part of the "fresh air experience" of scootering!!

Mostly I purchase riding gear at Cycle Gear, but I have two of them in my city. Fairly good prices and even their logo'd brand is generally pretty good quality.

As a new rider, the most important thing I learned quickly was _that the bike will hold you up once it's moving. Let it!!___________.
As an experienced rider, the most important thing I eventually learned was __to always look around and be ready to surrender your right of way to dumb drivers..__________.

Yeah, dumbcrap actions like that are really irritating. Years ago, someone tossed their fast food bag and burger wrappings into the front seat of my convertible. I'm sure they thought it was funny. Some people just have to be like that, I guess..

So, was the scooter hot from running, or just from sitting in the Phoenix sun? Actually, if you ride long enough, at some point, you will most likely get a scar or two from a burn. My lasting one is on the inner left wrist from my KZ750 30 years ago. Don't remember why I thought I had to reach in between the exhaust pipes. Good healing to you..

It isn't a bad idea at all to make it a point to actually move your head when checking other lanes to move into. It helps drivers behind you see your lane change intention and allow for it.. Though you can get lost up and distracted when you see that cool rider on that totally cool bike reflecting back in the store window next to you.....

I, too, have them on both of my rides. The convex mirrors let me see that area between the standard mirror coverage and the area diagonally back to either side where there is usually room to hide a small car.

i guess the 'comfort' sign performed in a forward and back motion would be 'now you do me!' (too much?)

Well, Skunkhome, good to see that it seems you are up and running. Good to hear that you are enjoying the scooter. I would say that the Helix and the Morpheous were two of the most unattractive designs put out, but overall, the owners love them. Sometimes it is the very uniqueness that gives them their personality... Clear roads to you....
