Alley, attached (I hope) is the only clear picture I could get of my rear brakes. As you can see, the brake pads actually extend above the rotor by about a 1/4 inch. I couldn't figure out how to use that photo site that you talk about so I had to send the pic by email to me and attach it from there. I have difficulty understanding written instructions. My brain won't absorb it. Shally Attachments:

Thank all for your help but the chain is good, straight, and well lubed, and there is no guard. With the wheels up off the floor, there is no clicks at all. The chain would make noises either way. All this is without the engine running. Strictly free-wheeling. I am going to try "wacking" the axle first and if that don't help, I'll replace the bearings. That is unless someone has a better idea! I am open for suggestions! Shally

Thanks Jim, I checked the caliper and it is rock solid. The click gets much louder when there is weight on the back. It is more like a loud pop or snap and occurs 4 to 5 times per revolution. Doesn't matter in which direction or if the trike is going straight or turning. I put about 40 lbs in the trunk and the snap was loud enough for me to hear it from behind. It appears to be comming from the left wheel. I can't be positive but am pretty sure. Any suggestions?

Im sure this has been dealt with already on this forum, but I can't find it. What I have now is when I roll the trike, I hear a uniform click. If I am sitting on it while rolling, the click gets much louder. I appears to be the same weather it rolls straight or in a turn. The fact that it gets much louder with extra weight on it tells me that it is probably a wheel bearing. Before I tear the axles out, could someone confirm my theory? I had the rear-end up on stands and there didn't appear to be any wheel looseness or play and I can't duplicate the sound just turning the wheels. I could have had this problem for a while but couldn't hear it over the engine. Alley, I'm still trying to get pictures of the brake assembly, but I can't seem to get a clear shot. That is how I found the clicking; by trying to find better lighting. Shally

Well, at least I now know my parking brakes are not an issue. Stopping is. Although I can slow down using the rear brake, there is no way I can lock up the rear wheels even using two hands. I tried! I doubt it will ever become an issue but I will just feel better. All-in-all, I am very happy with my IB Cyclone. I really expected more problems for the price. Knock on wood! Shally

To scooterbob, Thanks for the reply. Yes, it does stop the scooter if I apply enough pressure. I'm just not comfortable with the fact that setting the parking brake at the 1st notch is not sufficent to hold the scooter on a slight incline. Since the entire brake pad is not making full contact with the rotor, I'm not only loosing a portion of braking power but I'm also getting excessive wear and a potential total failure when I may need it most.
To Alleyoop, I had removed the caliper assembly hoping to find some sort of adjustment but there appeared to be none. I will remove it again and disassemble the mounting bracket. If I still don't see a simple solution, then I will take some pictures and try to post them here. I have considered elongating the mounting holes if push comes to shove. Shally

While riding my 2013 IB Trike, I had a feeling that my rear brakes just didn't seem to be helping as much as it should. When I would set the parking brake while on a slight incline, it had the tendency to roll backwards unless I set it on the second notch. When I checked the rear caliper, I found the brake pads do not have full contact with the rotor. The pads look to be high about a 1/4 inch above the rotor. I removed the caliper but found no way to adjust it lower. Looks more like the rotor is to small. Has anyone else experienced this situation? Does anyone know what to do, short of making a shorter mounting bracket? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Shally

Hello scooterbob, I'm very interested in what you did with your springs. I also have a 2013 IB trike and it rides like a mack truck. I thought the shocks were a bit stiff and wondered what I could do to smooth the ride. Typically, those springs are tempered steel. Would you mind telling me what did you use to cut them off? Shally

I'm not familiar with firefox or linux so I'm not sure if I am even making a point, but I am on Safari and had no trouble opening their site. Shally

Hay Alleyoop, What do you mean by cheap? I don't mean to sound cheap, but I do want to try to improve the top end while on a tight budget. One road I ride on is a 4 lane divided highway with a 55 speed limit and I do get some dirty looks from passing drivers since I can barely hold 48. Shally
