got some universal gasket today. I'll pull the head back off tomorrow and cut the gasket to fit, then put it back on. Wish me luck!

No, using the OEM CDI.
I forgot, but there is no gasket, it rotted out but it was like that for a while. Is this a 'slap myself in the forehead' moment?

The battery is brand new BTW. It isn't currently doing it, but in case it happens again....

Yes, after it cools it will start for a bit, like you saw on the vid. After it heats it won't even do that.

No, it was running like that already, I just set the valves as a likely culprit. Another thread here recommended .004 in and .005 out. I started using that a few months ago and it ran better for a bit.

And I hadda go and change the oil yesterday. I shoulda know better than to go making changes on a working bike. drive.google.com/file/d/0Byy0KRaiu0mfcWhUUjNYajFfX00/edit?usp=sharingI went ahead and checked the valves, and yep, I hadn't tightened them enough last time and they shifted. They good and tight, too, now. This video is after that. If it rests, I'll get a little bit of bad running and if I give it gas, it cuts out.

I had an issue before with the bike having to spin once, then stops, then turns and starts normally. Finally did it again and I got it on video. Dunno if it will happen again, but as long as I know what it is, so much the better. drive.google.com/file/d/0Byy0KRaiu0mfSlpWOWhkTXVTakE/edit?usp=sharingI hope it's just nothing, but better safe than sorry.

I've used a rethread kit on my old car and they don't seem to last well. The new head may be your best bet.

Alley, is that a 'just don't worry about it' issue?

I'll get a vid tonight.
Yes on the regulator. One of the reasons I chose it.

Had the battery tested at a specific battery place, and he told me the battery was good. There was a stack of new batteries he could have sold me right behind me so I think I can take him at his word.
I just adjusted the valves recently. Can this be nothing more than me not retightening them enough?

Jump started it last night. It's starting better, but that is either with the old battery or plugged in.

Well, took the battery in to be tested, the tech shook his head sadly, crossed himself, and gave last rites. I'm not too surprised, its the original OEM battery and it's a full year old. That may be a record. Haven't been able to 'jump start' it but I hope for an opportunity tonight if it doesn't rain. I suspect it will work fine, but JIC there is another problem dot dot dot.
