Hello all, I got my hands on an El Camino mini chopper that was purchased new back in 2010. It was taken apart ( all the body plastics ) and never started. He kept it in doors so all should be good. The battery was never setup so that should be good also. The bike needs a good going over which I don't mind doing, but I don't have any manual or info on it other than what I could find on line...which was not much. The guy I got it from is looking for the paper work which might help me some. He also mentioned something about the way the foot brake was installed. Anyone out there have any better info or know where I can find some? I guess I would PDI this just like any other scooter. I'm just not sure how I would adjust the gears if needed. it's a 4 speed manual. It's this bike in Black. I really need to test it as I may have to sell it because I do not think it meets DOT regs for NYC. The seat is too low to the ground. Thank You! Attachments:

The scooter is a 2006 and she has put 1400 miles on it. Nothing but oil changes and check ups have been done to it, If I remember correctly.
Thanks Alley, I will pass that info on to her.

Sorry for the multiple post. Back to topic. The scoot still shuts off after a short time. It also will not start without a twist on the throttle. She might make it half a block and she will have to push it back home because it will have to sit for a while before it will restart. It will run as long as the throttle is held open. I adjusted the idle screw, but that did not help. I'm thinking the valves need to be adjusted. I don't really know tho. Please help and thank you again.

Okay, I went by my friends house today and look over her scoot real quick. As far as I could tell all looks good from the outside. What we thought was a missing hose, was not the case. I looked under it from the other said and saw this.

Great! I will let her know, even better I'll see if I can take a trip over there and help her out myself. She has been getting the run around.
I just don't feel confident working on scoots that are not mine. I have been able to get mine back on the road, but I'm no Alleyoop or Jim.
I'll check all the hoses while I'm there and I will post back when I get an answer.
Thank you all again.

Here is the pic showing the bottom that has a small filter on the front. I'm not sure they told her right.

Hey Alley,
I hope I can do just that. Pictures are a big help, but it may take me some time as I don't see her that often.
Here are the ones I do have. Someone told her that there should be another hose joining the top part with the zip tie to the cover on the bottom.
The top is just an open hose.

Hey alley,
It's on the shaft just like you say. No wobble at all from the variator.
