Thanks Al. A trike would be nice but if I bought one, I wouldn't have to worry about healing - Dr. Mom would kill me.

Wait - hold the bus - that's RED JR - that would slow it down! Even scratched up blue is faster than smooth red. LOL!
Guys - "relatively" is the key word. At this point, I feel like I got hit by a truck. I taught today and every time I moved, I hurt. Yawning, sneezing and deep breaths hurt. Somehow, I bruised a couple ribs.
Thanks guys. If I feel a little better tomorrow, I'm going to work on it some.

Thanks every body. I definitely feel it in the ribs today. The weather's supposed to be crappy for the next few days. I don't have class tomorrow so I can work on it some. Looks like Thursday will be the first chance.
Wayne - I never checked that side. I was too PO'd over the damage to the right.
At least my wife didn't freak out. I thanked her for that. She said since she didn't get a call to come get me at the ER, it wasn't too bad. Last week she was talking about getting a 50cc in the Spring. She says she changed her mind.
Wolfie - see the same around here but also no helmet because of our laws.

Thanks all. Luke - thanks but I'll be 62 in November. Believe me, the old bones feel it right about now. Fortunately, the road rash is right on top of an old scar so my beautiful legs aren't any worse off. LOL guys!
Kiwi - I'll try and touch up the plastic for now.

Well, they say it's not if you'll down, it's when. After all my preaching about safety, I went down this morning. I'd ridden over to the grocery store to pick up a couple things. Coming back, I stopped at the stoplight about 1/2 mile from the house. As I was making the right turn at a couple mph, I felt the back end go out from under. I hit a small patch of oil as I was turning. I managed to brake and get a foot down and then I was on the ground. Felt my shoulder and helmet hit, glasses knocked off. I laid there for a couple seconds and found my left leg was pinned under the scoot. Managed to pull my foot out. A kid from Long John Silver's came running over and asked if I was ok. I said to give me a minute. A nice older lady pulled into the parking lot and came over to help. Two clowns in cages at the stoplight that saw me go down just sat there and looked. The kid and lady helped me get the scoot upright and I checked to see if it was ok to ride and after a couple minutes rode home. Damage assessment, scooter - deep scratches on the front and bottom plastic. Deep scratch on the muffler shield. Hard saddlebag on that side knocked out of alignment and the plastic and metal frame scratched. Long black scuff mark along rear plastic - don't know where that came from, maybe my boot? Damage assessment, safety gear - scuffed leather on the shoulder of my jacket, some scuffs on right sleeve and back. Scratches on my visor (Thank God for full face), small scratches on back of helmet. Me - road rash on knee, bruises on left knuckles, cut on right knuckles, cut on right wrist. Don't know how they happened, my gloves aren't cut. Sore right thigh muscles and sore right ribs. All in all, I was lucky and I can't say it often enough - wear your safety gear! Front plastic Front & side Hard saddlebag Me The weather's supposed to be rainy for the next few days so I won't be riding until later in the week. Ride safe folks!

The flaming skulls may be a little over the top. "Incident with the oven"? That doesn't sound good.

Scootaway - you snuck in while I was replying. He is a member, don't know why he showed as a guest, maybe just replied without logging in.

I don't know enough about them to give you good advice there. Personally, I think the remotes are nothing but trouble and I tell people not to use them but I don't know what would happen if you removed it. We'll wait and see what the experts like JR say. I'm concerned now that you need to get things dry and that coolant is probably going to leave a film that'll be tough to get rid of.
Definitely post some pix. I'm curious about that radiator arrangement and where they are. I think the lack of air flow is part of the problem since it's so common.
Did you get it from that Bargaintory bunch in Mechanicsburg?
There have been so many of those with problems, I wonder if anybody has filed complaints with the state Bur of Consumer Affairs. It seems like "dealer" knows there's problems but sells them anyhow. Doing your own PDI may appear to mitigate their involvement but I don't know. I do know that somebody posted a very positive testimonial about the scoot and them over on SD and of course they had to respond how great they were. Sounds like they were blowing there own horn.

It's possessed by a demon! Sorry! It sounds like the lock/remote/starter relay got wet and shorted out! Sounds like hair dryer time.

The Army uses the same letter combination.
Speedracer - lucky you - you're reasonably accurate.

Speedracer - the speedometers on scoots are decidely inaccurate so it makes sense that the odometer's off too. The error on mine is slight a slower speeds but increases the faster I go. Good old Dr. JR will tell you that you're not going to hit max performance until that thing is broken in. At 600 miles, you've got a ways to go.
Fubar - I'm an old artilleryman from Vietnam. The wife is always hearing things that I don't.
