Whew. She's going to take some getting used to. Also Luke...thank you for the positive comment. You should try that more often. '-)

Both of my bikes together cost under 5k. Whew!!! Those other bikes are way too price for my wallet. LOL.
Even with the problems my Ice Bear had, I wouldn't trade it for anything else. I have 2 China bikes and I've never had any problems with the TaoTao but minor stuff with the Ice Bear and both companies stand behind their products...Yeah...China Bikes.

Ok here's an update for you all...My trike is up and running and took her maiden voyage yesterday after I had the wheels balanced. OMG!!!! She runs great, rides great, and handles FABULOUSLY!!! I didn't realize how fast I was going till I looked at the speedometer and saw it hitting 50 mph. She tears up the road now. Thank you everyone...I now have a trike in top running condition because of Larry's hard work and all your help...and of course a big thanks to Ice Bear for standing behind their product. :-D

Malevelina, I got Good Sam Roadside Assistance when my stepsons started College and I wasn't there to stand over their cars. It includes both car and motorcycle coverage and it's waaay cheaper than Triple A. I'm paying $80 a year for coverage for four of us. The Tao Tao should be just fine. The 50cc GY6 is a solid, Japanese reliable, engine and Tao Tao started as an ATV company and saw all the abuse silly Americans can heap on a vehicle. Two tips though. 1) You should take the Tao Tao out on at least a 100 mile ride before then to see what pains you and fix it. Three Hundred and twenty miles is a trip and I had more than a few aches and pains the first time I did it in my 20s. 2)Absolutely get one of these!!! No joke, it's the difference between agony and enjoyment. www.motorcycle-superstore.com/motorcycle/Kidney%20BeltThis backrest business on a scooter or bike is a lame imitation. A kidney belt gives you all the lower back support you need and keeps you innards from squashing each other. Experienced motorcycle Tourers won't leave home without one. Extremely important, life saving, No kidding at all. If Luke had one of these his trailer would end up on Craigslist. Thanks Kz. I'm going to look into Good Sam. I need it for both my bikes. I'll also look into the kidney belt. Still not sure if I'm even going yet, but I'm going to try. It basically depends on my daughter's work schedule and if she can get a few days off at that time. I'm 60 years old and still have a lot of fire inside me and I want to go places and do things. Have my bucket lest all made out...LOL.

Thanks Cyborg.
Luke: First, my daughter and I will trailer whichever bike I decide to ride in Tahoe. Luke...You would understand that Luke since it would seem that the only pics we see of your bike, it's on a trailer.
Second, we'll be leaving from Orange County not San Diego and we like to go places. It's not the distance, it's the adventure.
Third, I decided, if I go, to ride my little blue 49cc. She's never given me any problem and I;m confident that it will do just fine. ;-)
BTW Luke, thanks for the AMA tip. I've been looking for roadside assistance for my bikes and haven't found anything affordable yet. I'll check out the AMA.

Hey guys...I'm going to try to enter this with either my trike (which I know will be in top condition) or my little TaoTao 50cc. Oddly enough, my daughter, her ex-husband, and my 2 oldest grandsons(23 & 21) are going to sponsor their gramma so she can go. ;-) Anyone else going? www.meetup.com/Beach-Cities-Scooter-Club/events/96655032/

Thanks Dave, Kz, and everyone else. I'm having the wheels and tires balanced Monday the 3rd. I'm sure it will be fine after that. I get her insured and licensed on the 31st so she'll be good to go after the wheels are balanced. I can't wait!!! :-D

Updated: 1/23/14 / New Problem added. 1) tranny 2) fuel pump 3) Distinct Shimmy 4) 5) 6) more.... Stuff happens on all makes and models of cars, truck, bikes, trikes, etc. My brother had a Japan bike, Honda, that was constantly in the shop with one thing or another going wrong with it. It just happens. Stop being so negative about everything. Geez.

im doing this for the newbies,?to prevent them from buying disposable scoots ( i didn't say chinese scoots) i want them to know that there are a lot of quality scooters out there , just shop around!!! lets lay all the cards and let them choose which one is better and fits their lifestyle. like them, i was once a newby, and i just rely on what my parents gave me. if my parents give me their hard earned money just to buy a disposable scooter that will end up in the garage collecting cab webs, i cannot stomach that. like tomcat the gay homewrecker.. lol i like technotech better than malevelina simply because technotech admitted that they bought a LEMON and made a huge mistake in buying that chinese trike, ,,malevelina on the other hand is still in denial that they were ripped off. Well I made it 23 days on my New Years Resolution about Luke and his "comments". Now it is going to broken. First off, when Malevina said "Now it's time for me to add my two cents...First Luke...stop talking" I almost fell off my chair from laughing. Second, when she said "You don't know anything about the trike except the bad stuff that has been written. What are you going to say after he gets it fixed and fixed properly and I'm not having anymore problems with it at all?" I can answer that, he will still continue to talk trash as he has in the past, just ask DaveC. Third, From a previous post in July, Luke, if you were creditible, maybe someone would listen or agree with you. If had experience, maybe more would listen to you and agree. You seem to enjoy making a fool of yourself. Of course someday I may need a good trailer, then I will ask for your advice. Again I will ask you why you haven't responded to my questions on this thread scooterdoc.proboards.com/index.cg....63&page=2#65177In case you can't find that thread I will ask them again How Long have you been a mechanic? Auto? Truck? Motorcycle? Scooter? How long have you made your living with the above? What kind of different manufacturers/distributors have you dealt with and repaired or sold their machines? How long have you been a motor vehicle dealer? What brands? Read more: scooterdoc.proboards.com/user/21/recent?page=6#ixzz2rEepmL3W want to answer those questions now? I have been working in the mechanic field for most of my life, have owned and operated Rapid Repair for going on 21 years now. Also, I am a Certified/Master Mechanic since 1976. I have been with Ice Bear since 2009 and been selling the 300s since they came out in 2010. Since 2010 there has been many mods on the 300s and today they are a better machine. Ice Bear is the only company that sells conventional scooter trikes and have a US patent. They strive to put out the best product they can and they DO listen to their dealers and consumers to take care of issues that may arise. As with anything, things happen and things break, the main thing is that Ice Bear stands behind what they sell. I have come to one or two conclusions about Luke, either he just enjoys starting issues, getting people riled up and listening to himself talk or he really believes what he is saying no matter how misguided and uniformed he is. Fourth, Yes Luke, I still remember when you compared me to a drug dealer, any other board you would have been banned for such a personal and untrue attack, it is a good thing there is many miles between us. To the members of this forum, I am sorry I this thread, but enough is enough. You Go Jim!!!! I'm behind you 100%. Most of us come to this forum for help or just to BS about our bikes/trikes. It's a learning experience for some of us...apparently Luke isn't one of those. He seems to know everything about everything and everyone else is wrong. I almost feel sorry for him...I don't think he realized that he's making a fool of himself. Thank you Jim for posting your thoughts.

I have a question for anyone but Luke. All you trike owners out there, does your trike have a distinct shimmy when you ride it? Mine is now up and running beautifully but there is a shimmy in the front end. Telcotech had the same problems with his trike conversion kit for his Harley so I'm just asking if it's normal?

Now it's time for me to add my two cents...First Luke...stop talking. You don't know anything about the trike except the bad stuff that has been written. What are you going to say after he gets it fixed and fixed properly and I'm not having anymore problems with it at all? Everyone knows you hate China bikes but hold down the nastiness to a low growl please.
As to all the Ice Bear owners and of course Jim thank you for your positive comments and help. Once she's up and running, I'll have a trike that will last me a lifetime. Larry has practically re-built it so I'll be safe and avoid these problems in the future. I'm very positive that all the bad stuff is over with now and she'll run just fine from now on. Thanks again guys.

We got the tranny/engine back yesterday and Larry has started putting my beautiful trike back together. Again, I was to thank everyone who helped up with the little problems and the big ones too. LOL. We'll probably be asking more questions at he continues to get her running for me.

No Luke...Telco and Malevelina are two different people who live together and are talking about the same trike... Glad you cleared this up for Luke. I thought the same as KZ when I first read it, same trike. In keeping with my News Year Resolution I will refrain from saying any more about Luke. I am hoping this is an isolated case, to be sure I have sent an email off to Ice Bear and will be talking to my rep ( the wife of the owner ) later today to follow up. I have sold 3 Zodiacs, all were PDIed and Assembled by Ice Bear and dropped shipped ( Dave being one of them ) and none of my customers have had this issue. To be fair, there can be issues with anything mechanical, heck you ought to see all he work I had to put into my 1950 HD Panhead! And yes I did buy it unassembled in boxes. LOL! Also one other thing to others reading this, the Chinese scooters are the only scooter you can buy in a crate and shipped to your door unassembled and un PDIed. More as I get more information. Jim Thank you Jim, Alley, and everyone else, for all your help. ;-)

Luke...the reason Larry posted the same problem as me is because I told him to get the info for himself from the guys here; I was tired of being the go between. LOL

OK Kat. Believe me, your scooter doesn't have the worst problems I've ever heard. Even if they did put a lot of washers to make the bolts work, at least the bolts are there. I would have done what Alley did and kept the bike in forward to prevent the problems you had. I'm old school and believe me, old motorcycles had to be worked and fiddled around with a lot more than these two wheeled automobiles they sell today. GPS, air bags, sound systems and cruise control? Give me a break. Not to mention reverse gears. That was science fiction 40 years ago. Now they're everywhere. I heard that Kz. I used to watch my father work on everything and now Larry does all of that. I wouldn't know a screw turner from a pounder...LOL
