Ha Rich..Well Rob Lowe for got to tighten the valves down and today when i went to ride it how i heard an awful clack clack noise. I pulled over and pulled the valve cover to see them just about to ruin my day. I quickly tightened them up and headed home. Now i have to wait for it to cool off so i can adjust them properly. Thats the last time i buy Bacardi while putting the engine together. BTW we have the Puerto Rican Adam Sandler who works for United Motors. I have been playing with roller weights and found that 57 (3-10g and 3-9g) grams is to much for me..take off is way to slow. So i am back at 45 grams until the break in is over. Im having a real issue with flat spotting them after 3-4 months and they also are not helping me get up these steep hills.

all i can say is if you want to do it right BUY the case that is ready for the 67mm piston. I can tell you i tried a few different cases (gy6 and gy6b) and i still had oil seal leaks. I sold the motor a while back to a crazy Puerto Rican who in turn put NOS on it only to blow it up. They are fun to ride but heat is an issue so add an oil cooler.

So i went on my normal morning ride thru the mountains and i stopped for coffee..thats when i noticed the simple oil leak i had decided to become Niagara Falls. So i went in and had my coffee then went to find a quart or 2 of oil. It was a long 15 miles home with many stops to add oil. once i got home it was time to take the engine off and start dismantling it. It seems that the base gasket didnt want to hold the oil anymore and that was where my little leak started. After tearing it down and doing a little inspection... I decided to head to one of my local parts store (or a truck in this case) and pick up some new goodies. Not a bad deal for $150..60mm piston, 300mm racing crank, all new gaskets, new chain and oil pump. I got back home around 5pm and started cleaning everything then started to reassemble around 5:30pm It started to get dark quick but we got everything installed and mounted by 8pm..not bad for completely rebuilding the engine in 2.5 hours.

i agree it wont hurt it at all. I used 4t oil for a long time and then it went to 12.99 a quart here in PR. I switched to Valvoline 10-40 and have no issues in 5000 miles.

oh i know...i was just taking things off since i was there and found the belt as a bonus. I am glad i seen it since i ride daily and dont want to be stuck somewhere far away. I did manage to find the leak and i guess tomorrow is upgrade day (providing i can find all the parts). I circled the area that is leaking and the one near the top is from a bolt that is stripped out. I will be getting a new right side (center)case as well. Thanks to Rich for having this pic already.

i found the problem and the source of the oil causing my plug to get fouled. The stator was covered in oil because the was a bolt in the top right part of the case that was hanging loose. It is stripped so i added some loctite and its not staying in its place. When i do my upgrades in a few weeks i will have to replace the middle case piece. Im just happy i can just run down the street and pick up my parts..no mail order for me.

Right now I have no spark...I had it earlier....I changed 3 cdis that I know are good and the spark plug coil. I think the stator is bad. As for the spark plug issue I'm going to run a new one for a week and the pull it to see what it looks like. I'm planning a small upgrade in the next few weeks and if I can wait until then to open up the engine I will have more time. I will just have to ride one of the others if the new stator don't fix it tomorrow.

I don't know what they run here but when I ran an iridium plug it never looked like that.
