The pink with the resistor does go to the off side of the switch, do not splice it in the yellow wire, it will then add to much load with the headlights on.

As everyone has noticed have an new News Header now and it's easier to read. Just added a little trick to your avatar to the left in the mini profile. A clear picture will make this a lot better if you put your own image in. Just place your cursor/pointer over your avatar image and watch what happens.

OK let's slow down and take it one step at a time. While there is a general color code for each thing sometimes thing from one harness doesn't match up to original wiring on the scooter.
So like Alley mentioned if you can join a hosting image service like he gave you and snap a few pictures then we can sort this out.
Now when you say left hand cluster and the horn works then tell me what is also on the cluster, it does vary sometimes.
It should be:
horn
hi/lo beam headlights
turn signals
passing light (some models)
Right cluster should be
start button
kill switch
on/off headlights (some models)
Now also this can be confusing, let's use the starter relay/solenoid. The wires running to it are:
red/yellow = wire from start button = ground
yellow/green = 12Vdc power with key on and brake lever pressed = also brake lights, they tie together.
But the pigtail on the relay itself may not have the same color match, you mentioned one was yellow/red the other green. If you have a female plug on your new harness that has red/yellow and yellow/green on it and the male plug on the relay will plugin and it's yellow/red and green then plug it in and test the starter to see if it works, if not then we need to know if you have the other end plugged into the start button correctly and if you have the yellow green plugged in correctly in the front part of the harness by the headlight/key switch area.
Pictures are going to be a must for me to help and no I don't picture text.

Has anyone took note that there are 4 pages to this thread my post here is reply#52 and the OP hasn't opened his mouth since reply #15? I wonder why? JR Exactly!!! All the time some in their opinions started basically theories of what might or might be going on while all the time making it known that all of what he was saying was just in his mind and guess what he shut up, I guess he got tired of being made out a idiot by all the experts on engines.
Let me remind all that this "is" a Chinese scooter with a made by the thousands GY-6 engine that is nothing more than a lawn mower engine. There can and have been things happen that sometimes aren't the norm of engines and when one of these crazy things happen and the final answer of why it happened can be found it's something that we all can add to the list of "check" this if it happens again.
But being critical of someone asking for help isn't the way to help and since you like sayings Luke here is one, "if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all" it goes along with one of my favorites, "treat others how you would like to be treated."

Others on my other motorcycle forum had this happen Oh ya forgot about the Compound Fracture of my right big toe in 95. 
Ortho, titanium = all lying, stealing bunch of POS crooks. Yes I'm still carrying on about these titanium sockets just put in my jaw bone a week ago and if I could I'd do this to a ortho = fag person right now!

The staff here at Scooter Doc felt like the General discussion area was getting cluttered with too many type subjects that it was taking away from the main theme of the forum which is ........scooters.
While we want to also recognize other subjects they were getting to a point in our opinion overriding the main theme thus the new No Scooter Zone.
Just like the caption said we all know what works and what causes problems so got a favorite recipe, like to play golf, want to talk about your computer then this is the place to talk about it.

Ok so I made it new topics and changed it, now it is the same as recent threads like the other menu button which has been here all the time. New posts was different now you have two buttons worded differently but are the same thing, don't make any sense when all you had to do was drop down and hit another button, so now we remove a button with a different choice all in the name of New Topics.
Exactly, Recent Threads in the Proboards templates = New Topics.
