All seems to be in order. Like I mentioned, it only started just after I actually started using the front brake for real. It came and went for a bit, then finally stuck around. I've been checking for wear/damage and have seen none. The sound is getting weaker and weaker as I put more miles on it. For the moment, I'm thinking it was either just a matter of the pads needing to wear down to match the discs, or maybe there was some weird piece of metal in the pad causing the issue. I'm still keeping an eye on it, but the noise seems to be improving.

Thanks jvino! I'm getting very close. I'm gonna change again at 300 Km. I'm at like 260 now. The plan is to change it again at 500 and then 1000. I'm just now starting to have fun on it, simply because I was initially scared of the notorious Chinese scoot reputation. Now that I'm gaining confidence in the bike, it's a lot easier to enjoy it.

I just like to gain every advantage I can. I do all the things you guys are talking about, riding like I'm invisible, staying out of blind spots, giving myself a space cushion, etc...
I know from experience that, especially on roads with many lanes, I've heard a loud bike which has caused me to actively try to find where it is around me. Maybe he's two lanes over and behind me where I can't seem him in my mirror, but after I hear him I know to keep an extra close eye on where he is.
I expected you guys to be somewhat in favor of having a louder ride. If you guys are all in agreement that it doesn't make a difference, then I'll use your collective experience as a guide and not worry about it myself.

If worse comes to worse, there are thousands of styles and sizes of switches available. It would be super easy to rig something up.

Dang, my scoot is quiet. That's just fine with me. I didn't buy it to rattle windows and sound awesome. That being said I've been wondering if it might be wise to make the scoot louder so that drivers are more likely to notice me. Have any of you made any mods to add a little volume to the exhaust? Is there even an easy way to do this? Is it worth the trouble? Hell, maybe I'll just install one of those bird-chirpy things the golf carts at the airport have.

Wow. Yeast and capsaicin! You're lucky you still have a colon! Maybe had I bottled my grog with peppers, it would have been drinkable. I typically have both jalapenos and habaneros in the garden. THIS is what God intended when he created the habanero. It's actually the only thing I sell from the garden. The stuff is like heroin. Get all your friends hooked and they'll pawn all their stuff just to keep a jar of it in the kitchen.

Amen brother. The wife is off work tomorrow and we only have 2/4 kids this weekend, so I'm hoping to abandon her here with the two boys for a good portion of the morning and run a full tank of gas through the scoot. "I made you guys a stack of pancakes..." "HEY LOOK!! IT'S ELVIS!!" Then, WHOOSH, I'm gone.

Yeah kz. I checked it. It's all clear. No binding, kinks, cuts, abrasions... I have no idea.

I give up. It was fine the whole ride home. I even hit the brakes to check before even pulling out of the parking spot all the way. Everything is tight. No lateral play. Axle still torqued. Forward stop, reverse stop... All good. No potholes or speed bumps or crazy turns.
I guess I'll just keep an eye on it and try to figure out some sort of pattern or series of events that lead to the sound coming and going.

Made it through probably 20 stops nice and quiet. Once I got on campus, I hit that first stop sign and the grinding is back. It wasn't a gradual onset. It was fine... Then it wasn't.

Here's the video I promised. This is what a disc brake looks like.

Well, as it normally happens, I made a solid effort to document the condition of the entire brake system to show you guys it looked pretty good. Once I put it all back together again...It's working fine. No issues. I'm gonna take it to class tomorrow, about 25 miles/60 min stop and go, round trip. Hopefully, it'll remain quiet and functional. Anyway, here's the video I made for you guys...
