I pulled the fuel line coming out of the shutoff valve. No immediate leaks. I let it sit like that for about half an hour to see if maybe there was a slow leak. Not even the beginning of a drop formed. The fuel shutoff is good to go.

I put the first 100 Km on my scooter and decided to do the first oil change. A few days ago when I checked the oil, it was way over-full, which I thought was strange. Today, after draining the oil, I noticed it smells like gas. The scooter has been running great though. Starts and runs like a dream. Any ideas?

It's hard to really see what's going on without actually being there I'm pretty sure that the float mechanism is attached to a potentiometer. 12V and Ground get connected to A and B. W would be the output to your fuel gauge, and the voltage would vary as the float moves up and down in the tank. You can try hitting it with some electrical contact cleaner and see if that improves things. Otherwise, you may need a new sensor.

Are the different voltage readings on full from different trials? That is say did you move it empty to full and check, then empty to full and check....or did you keep it on full and the voltage steadily increased?

No way to adjust the angle on the sidestand Doc. The centerstand is easy to use and more stable. It's not like you have to heft a 450 pound Morphous. Been around lately Luke. Borg has already had to deal with a leaking fuel....oh yeah, you did too. Darn those leaking "Peace of Mind" scooters. You know if you had come to us when you had the Chinese scooter we'd have told you how to fix it. Then you would have had something to ride. BTW I missed your post when you apoligized to Doc Rocco when he got it started. I guess it was quite sincere when you told him how much you admired him for doing something you weren't able to do. Is the trailer all serviced for the season? Thanks KZ. Good to know. As far as LUKE is concerned, he may have tried to apologize. I wouldn't know. I've had him blocked for a while now.

Another beautiful day here in Springfield. I'd love to get out and ride BUT... today is the St. Patty's parade and boozefest downtown. My guess is there will be a higher than normal number of drunks out driving around. Do any of you take things like this into consideration when going out for a ride?

Side stand

I've always been told the bike is more stable on the side stand. This is not the case on mine. On the side stand, it's only about 3 degrees from being totally upright. Any of you guys know if I can adjust this? I've been using the center stand every time.

That's no joke cyborg! I'm only at about 90Km on mine right now. I can actually feel it running better as it begins to get broken in. A couple days ago, it was much harder to get up to 40 MPH or so. Today, riding into a 20MPH wind, I was hitting 40 on accident...speeding in town. Starting more easily, running more smoothly, moving faster...Good Stuff! By the way, I went to go see a buddy of mine today. I thought that the max speed limit between here and there was 45, but I was wrong. There is about a 3 mile stretch of 55MPH in there. Again, I was driving into the wind. I tucked down as far as I could and let 'er rip and was easily able to operate normally in traffic at highway speeds. I pretty much had my chin on the gauge cluster, but I did take a quick peek once, and the speedo showed what I expected, about 60 MPH. I really didn't want to run it that fast during break in but I kinda had to because I forgot about a higher speed limit on that stretch of road. It sure was fun though

I'm with you Alley. Fuses don't just arbitrarily blow. After I got it started, I was riding to AutoZone, trying to figure out what caused it to blow. When I got in the store, I took the old fuse out of my pocket to see how many amps it was rated for. When I did that, the endcap on the fuse fell off and onto the floor. I've never had that happen before. The way the fuse was assembled was just a glass tube with a small wire, bent 180 degrees back over the edge of the tube on each end and then the endcaps slipped over top of that. Friction fit only. My guess, my hope, is that vibration, corrosion, or some other variable caused a discontinuity in the circuit at the fuse. I had no signs of electrical, or for that matter, any other issues, either before or after this "blown" fuse. For now, I'm just going to attribute this incident to a poorly made component. About an hour after this all went down, I took it out and put another 20 miles on it with no problem.

I took the scoot to go pay a bill for my wife. When I hopped back on it and tried to fire it up...nothing. No gauges, no lights, no starter...nothing. I immediately took a look at the fuse. It looked good. I started to reach for the multimeter...
That's when I remembered I was being a jack arse. ALWAYS replace the fuse, no matter how intact it looks. Luckily, my fine brothers and sisters in China had provided me a spare fuse. I popped it in...started right up...stopped at AutoZone on the way home and bought fuses.
What was I doing riding around without extra fuses? I know better than that. Close call. That would've been a long, shameful, walk to go buy fuses.

Yeah, but I bet it feels awesome to pick up something like that on the cheap and bring it back to life. I'm already keeping an eye out for "junk" scooters for sale here in town.
