That actually looks really good with the red and black theme you already have going with the scoot. Good find!

Maybe I'm just a girly man. Maybe I'm just not doing it correctly. I tried to kick-start the scoot as a contingency exercise. I wanted to make sure that if I ever found myself with a dead battery, I'd be able to get it started. NOPE. Didn't even come close. Any tips? screen.yahoo.com/pumping-hans-franz-patrick-swayze-000000654.html

I won't bore you guys with the details, but my job screwed me over and pushed me out too. I'm better for it. You will be too. If they didn't value you enough to stick by you in tough times, then they're not worth your effort.

I'll vouch for cosmoline. The Rust Veto stuff KZ posted is supposed to be similar. I bought a rifle a couple years back, coated in cosmoline. Not only is the stuff super tough to remove, but the 85 year old rifle is in like new condition.

It was 37 when I left the house this morning. That was nothing. I could've tolerated much colder. I suppose the sun helps too.

Alley, it's a 150cc. I'll take a look at what you suggest in the morning.

I'm planning on taking the scoot to class in the morning. The forecast says 40 and sunny at that time. I'm planning on jeans, coat, insulated gloves, and full face helmet. It's about a 20 minute drive, through town, stop and go, max speed 45. That'll be my first ride in anything under about 55 degrees. I think I'll be alright. What say you?

Just to make sure I understand what you're saying...
You think gas is getting in via the vac lines and there are two ways that could happen. 1: Via the vac hookup to the fuel shutoff. and/or 2: Air cut valve diaphragm.
Correct? What's the air cut valve diaphragm?

I'm with John on this one. I like the "New Posts" and the "New Threads" buttons. Depending on what I'm looking for, I use both of them. The "Top Posters" button I think is a little redundant. Before it was available, I just went to the members list and sorted by number of comments. That's just my two cents.

I'm flying blind here. Maybe Alley or someone else could help out. My guess is that the three wires on the back of your gauge are Ground, 12VDC for backlighting, and the voltage coming off the wiper on the fuel sensor potentiometer. Based on the pictures you posted, you're measuring between the two positive inputs to the gauge. Solid green wire is ground on my scoot. I assume it's the same on yours. You might try keeping one multimeter probe on the green wire, then choose one of the others. Operate the fuel sensor and see if it changes. Then move your lead to the other wire and repeat. I'm guessing one will remain steady at 12VDC and the other will vary based upon the position of the lever on your fuel sensor mechanism.

Clone, this is a brand new scooter. I've only had it a couple weeks. I did a pretty thorough PDI on it. I even had the carb apart and inspected the float assembly to make sure everything was moving freely. When I first started it up, I put about half a tank of garbage 2 year old gas in it. Once I made sure it ran, I topped it off with premium fuel with Sea Foam. I burned about half of that, then topped it off again with the premium/Sea Foam mix. When I initially put oil in it, it was almost to the top of the hashed area on the dipstick. After running it 80 Km or so, I checked the oil again and it had risen to the bottom of the cap, about 1/2" from the fill opening. The oil seemed to have the same viscosity and on a scale of 1-10, I'd say the gas smell in it was about a 4.

Glad to hear that guys. I have absolutely zero mechanical experience, but I was hoping that could be the explanation before I brought it to you. I'll keep an eye on it. Oil is cheap. I'll change it frequently for a while and see if the condition improves.
