Ya what they said. I'm going to go with you definitely have a metal on metal problem. Could be the caliper is misaligned or the bolt holing the caliper to the fork tube is too long and rubbing on your disc. Check the disk for scaring and search the surface areas on the pads and caliper that align with any scaring you may find.

So I replaced my battery yesterday and unplugged my headlights connection (daytime only) and my charging issue seems to have been resolved.
With my mulitmeter I got the following readings? +/- terminal, scoot off = 12.7 +/- terminal, scoot on, headlights unplugged = 12.8 +/- terminal, scoot on, headlights plugged in = 12.3
Now all I have to do is figure out why my stator seems to be making this loud annoying noise when it is at idle? Any ideas?

That is what I said HALFWAY UP WITHOUT SCREWING IT IN. Now you must have it on level ground if its tilting toward the front you will overfill it, if tilting toward the rear you will be short. Alleyoop When you are referring to tilting, are you speaking of the the center stand being the axis? Does the scooter need to be on both tires on level ground to check the oil level?

Grinding usually means metal on metal. I had a caliper bolt work it's way loose on me last month and it created all kinds of havoc. I'd take the caliper off and take a real good look at things. May be that the pads were installed backwards. Keep usposted. Nice looking scoot you have there.

I had a ferocious leak on my 1P57QMJ engine for a couple of years. Finally I took off the plastic fan shroud, cleaned every thing off and started it. You can only let it run for a short time like that but if the oil leak is that bad, you'll see where it's dripping from. As I've posted ad nauseum I had cracked the head when I overtightened the small bolts adjacent to the cam tunnel. I had to replace the head and the head gasket for a laughable $50. But I digress. Baring the engine and looking for the source of the leak is the only definitive way to find it unless you're lucky and can find it without removing the shroud. kz, Pretty sure it is the starter clutch cover case gasket. Slowed the leak down last night by tightening the bolds up a bit, but it needs to be replaced ASAP.

Sorry to hear your having problems with that scooter. You would think with the low miles it would be ok. I would hope you have some sort of warenty on it. Did you buy it new and the original owner. That gets to me that your having a lot of problems with a newer scoot. Glad you have the stinky helping you and some senior people. Good luck and will look at your posts later. Really gets under my skin something so new giving you major problems. mine had an oil leak from day one. the assembler rolled the lip of the crank seal over and it leaked oil constantly into the cvt. just recently fixed it with a new seal. no leaks now but some just have little problems right from the factory. That sucks! My motor had no leaks until after I blew the rod bearing and replaced the whole crank. It's obviously something I did wrong when I reassembled the motor. In fact I am certain it is the right side case gasket between the crank case and the starter clutch housing. I checked my bolts last night and a few of them were a not quite snug. I tightened the up and the leaking rate decreased. Need to get a new gasket in there ASAP.

It is a 2008 that 128 miles on it when I bought it used in November. It has been nothing but trouble since I bought it. Really sucks to cause I love the thing to death.

Have you tried unplugging it and plugging it back in? You're a genious. That worked. I got it started, but I haven't changed out the belt yet. I am hoping to get to it this afternoon if my schedule permits. Looks like I had a bad battery.

Alley, when I pulled the fan cover off, I did not see a bunch of oil in the stator housing area like I anticipated I would. I don't think it is the oil crank seal like I suspected. It seems like the oil is coming from somewhere else.

Looks like I haven't completely solved my oil leaking problem. I had to go out of town for a few days and when i got back I have a pretty good amount of clean oil pooled up under my scoot. Ahhhhhh! Is this bad boy worth it?

Just got my 842 yesterday. I was out of town since Monday. Can't wait to get it installed and see if I get a little more top end speed out of it.
