Sorry to hear that happendeed not really sure how you would make it electric. Sounds like your due for a compression test on engine to determine if it is smoked. At least you got to enjoy it for a while if nothing else sorry your having tough problems.

Front brakes are the majority of stoping power like said by others. Is the brake cable pull in without resistance it would probley be needing a new cable. If that is not the problem the pads might be glazed but from my experience at least with scooter the back brake doesn't do much braking power. Just helps slow down. Now if your coming into a turn and need to slow down and there is wash out every where that would be a good time to only use back brakes due to front end washing out.
If there is barly any resistance on the lever and it don't spring bake you have a spring on the back of the brake assembly that might need a turn or two in. Clockwise I belive. Good luck gen seeker and you are right tell that boy what's up with the braking power. You should use front brake more than rear.

These guys are right on the topic penetrating oil a couple of times and use the tool shown you probley going to need some new screws once you get them out. If you keep your scooter out side you might want to invest in a cover for it should help a lot with rusty screws.

Sorry to hear you are having problems with your brothers scooter. Sounds like you got the diagnosis figured out that is over half of the battle. You and your bother could probley have a head on in a couple of hours if you don't have to take the motor out. Sounds like you have all the tools and work space go for it. The plug hole probley didn't strip it self out you are probley right brother was messing with it.
By all means help your brother see if he will take you out for dinner some time or bowling or something for your help. Good luck young lad.

Heruk you sound like your right on what you should be looking for as far as the back firing I have a friend that has a scooter and it's a little older but his seems to keep going and has not had many problems other that a starter went at like 3000 miles. Not to say your will his filled up with oil some how. As far as the brakes there pretty easy to check if there disk there is a liabary section that explains it. Undo your to bolts that hold on the forks and inspect. Depending on your set up I think you need an alen key to get the pads of on that scooter. If there less than a dime of pad then they should be replaced. Lightly sand pad and rotor before applying new ones and bolt back up.
As far as the engine change your oil and always make sure it has oil in it if it doesn't you can do a lot of damage pretty easy thing to check. You might want to change your diff fluid in your scooter it should be about ready you must have a brocken spedo cable if you only have 400 miles and guy who sold it to you must of keep track of gas station fill ups. You will need a cyringe to put oil in the dif there is also a liabary section on this form you can find that info. Good luck hope that was some help.

Looks like a pretty nice scooter if running good now and you do general matneince should last a couple seasons. That is pretty low miles to the sight. There is a couple of people who have same scooter on this sight they have had a couple of problems but figured out a way to fix fast. Is that scooter all stock has it had any work done to it from previous owner that you no of. You might need a rear tire in after a couple more miles if original. Not to bad to get done and balanced hope if you get this scooter you enjoy it several seasons. good luck on the purchase.

That's the bike I thought you had it looks very simiar to the helix. I wasn't awair they were 1800 new so for like over 2000 dollars you could have it on the road ready to go. I believe you got a fair deal on yours. There is a couple of these scooters around were I live I see from time to time they seem to do well.
