Could also be a small pinhole or tear in the needle diaphragm. A small air leak will cause a hanging idle.

To loose a friend is painful indeed. However, when it's somebody that has been there to help hundreds he!! thousands, with correct knowledge and a quick joke, that's worse.
Some folks will hear a man talk about a friend on a forum, and ask how you can call someone you have never met a friend. I will tell you how.
When you talk to someone every day, and share an exchange of ideas and share knowledge, and help each other, you do get to know them. You know their humor, their strengths, their weaknesses, their battles, and dare I say it, their souls.
I have friends on another forum, that I know only from talking online, and a couple phone calls. It would hurt me deeply to loose anyone of them.
IMHO meeting, and talking to people that you have never seen, gives one a sense of freedom, and a feeling of comfort that wouldn't be there if you met that same person face to face first.
As I said, Rich has already helped hundreds or thousands of people on the web, and will continue to do so from the great track in the sky forever. Up there, your bike is always in tune, the tank never runs dry, and torque springs don't fade with heat. Oh, they still sell two strokes too!!!!
He is cruising a never ending highway, with family and friends, and it never rains. Everyday is a perfect day to ride, and he is watching over all of his friends.
I never got a chance to chat with him, but I can tell by your kind words that he was a great man, and will be tremendously missed. I feel for everyone who is pained by his passing. From reading the posts if his that I have come across, he would want you all to continue to help others, and keep riding.
R.I.P.AND GOD BLESS YOU RICH CARMAN
Chris

Ahhhh.
Well, just thought I would put it out there.
I haven't read all of this thread word for word, just kinda skimmed through it. You probably double checked the valve lash/ settings huh???
Good luck!!

Check the float height.
The run for a while sit for a while problem in your first posts, sounds very familiar to me. My 250 four stroke did the same dang thing for a while last year. It turned out to be the battery was bad, and not charging correctly. I have a DC cdi, and the charging system was out of whack, so the engine would just run out if available juice and die. Then after sitting for about ten or fifteen minutes would fire right up and go for a few more miles. A new battery fixed that issue for me. As I said, maybe not be the same issue, but just throwing it out there.............

Oh, also, as a side note, the Linhai engines most certainly use a M 14 x1.0 crank nut. The same as most BMX style axle nuts.
Found out the hard way, I bought a 14x1.5 and there was no way in he!! it was going to work.
I don't know for a fact that all Linhai engine clones are going to use this nut, but this one does. Figured I would post that incase somebody stumbles on this thread and needs to know.
Thank for everything everyone, thank for making me feel at home Alleyoop

Alleyoop, that was a variators weight for a 1e40qmb as a comparison for some friends at 49ccscoot.com

Personally I love the graphite powder. I first used it while working as a property manager for a real estate company. There I used it in sticking locks.
Now, I keep finding new and inventive purposes and uses for the stuff. I love it, the graphite powder seems to drastically cut the friction CO efficient on anything it comes in contact with.
Wonder how heat effects this stuff???
Was also wondering how it would work on or in ceramic bearings.

Figured I would share a bit of my nightmare. www.dropbox.com/sc/hh19h1qmdyemab2/AABfULVuwPMCsA5opUUeoZlBaCheck out the butt load of heavy grease in there. I cleaned it all out, put in new grease seals, and a very little bit of grease in the boss, and dusted the rollers, ramps, ramp plate and the guides, with graphite powder.

Also, I checked the friction pads, just to be safe, and they were still rather dull. They have started to Haze in a couple spots, but all in all looked good. I can see where the old clutch had cooked the bell, it's mostly blue and purple. HOT.
Not going to disassemble the centrifugal unit, but was wondering, are these T.D.'s groves like the little scoot units???

I had to cut the dang nut off. But I finally did get it off. I never pulled the belt out of the vari, cuz I wanted to see what was going on in there, without me causing all of the rollers to shift.
When I did get it out, once the back plate was off, I could see one stupid a$$ roller that most certainly did shift out of track. No big surprise, considering the amount of friggin axle grease that was inside the ramp plates. I would live to meet the man that did that, so I could kick him in the teeth. I have been cleaning this thing for over an hour, and still haven't got all the grease out.
I took pics of most of the process, if there is any intrest, I will post links.

Thanks 2stroked! I've been thinking it wasn't there to begin with. It is in really nice shape, and I just couldn't see how this could have happened. I may disable it, that would probably be easiest. And BTW, the problem isn't the weight of the scooter, the problem has to do with physical issues with my legs and hips. Sorry blu, didn't mean to insult ya. I have been in so many wrecks, and my lower back is torqued so bad, that it's kinda hard for me to twist and get on and off the Helix, all the while trying to get it started with my right foot on the brake. The Cyprus is taller, but easier for me to balance and start. IMHO, the brake switch interupt is a good piece of safety equipment, if not a bit awkward. If you stall in traffic, without the safety interupt, it's a lot easier to wind up hitting someone. I can't talk much, I unhooked the interupt on my Roketa Cyprus cuz it was bugging the he!! out of me.

Oh, sorry, I already replaced the clutch a couple months ago, ( had it done in January ) and when I looked, the pads didn't seem to be hazed, and they have plenty friction material left, and look pretty dmn even for Chinnese products.
The old clutch was wore to the arms, so the bell is new too. Now starting to seem I will need a new vari fan as well, as one of the holder holes has broken out, as well as a couple fins. Not sure, but think that might cause a balance issue.

The impact wrench should work like a charm IF it is one with at LEAST 200+ Ft Lbs of torque. Also I do not believe shake rattle and roll is due to a weight I would check your clutch pads they are GLAZED and like a mirror and slip when taking off until enough centrifugal force is applied to grab the bell without slipping. Very Common on the 250s so just get some fine sandpaper and take the glaze off. But it will always come back due to the weight it has to move from a standstill. Impact ( off brand ) + air compressor @full pressure ( the things as old as me, the pres. guage is all hazed up ) and NODDA. The impact and compressor unit have never let me down before. They belong to my uncle, but he takes great care of all of his tools, and I have used them several times. The compressor uses a 3hp electric (220) motor and has a four foot long by about a foot and a half around tank. I am not positive on the force of the gun, but am sure it's over two hundred pounds. With the locker tool braced against the floor, I can lift the bike with a breaker bar. And that's not straight up, but up and forward. These dmn things aren't reversed threads are they? ? I didn't think so, but at this point, nothing would surprise me. I might have to wind up cutting the dmn thing off. Idk. Any help would be great. I have tried everything I can think of. Penetrating oil, impact wrench, breaker bar, ratchet and pipe, heat, what else is there??? Are these cranks threaded with a common thread that would make it easy for me to replace this nut from the local hardware store?

It's green and yellow, not green and white. it goes straight into the main harness and down into never never land. Screw it, it starts, I should be thankful for that. Got to know my scooter a little, but I'll live with it until...... I wish you much luck and happiness with your scoot. My real Honda Helix doesn't have the starter interupt wired to the front brakes either. From what I can tell, it never did. I have traces all if the wires, looking for another issue, and the front brake switch is not connected to the starting circuit anywhere. The rear brake peddle on the floor is hooked to it though. If it were me, and if I had trouble holding that heavy a$$ thing up while awkwardly stardling the bike to reach the rear peddle, I would do one of two things. 1 I would disconnect the interupt circuit al together, OR 2 I would just wire the interupt to the front brake switch so there was still a brake on when you start it. Good luck, and be safe. chris
