Oh yeah, you forget the egocentrism thing, it's all about me. OK cheesy bread, that would be 4" X 11" X 1". Uh oh! It's the 1" that's the problem. That would not transfer much heat. I really don't think that would transfer enough heat to help. These engines generate a lot more heat than a pooter. So I take it something like this would be even worse?

So is that a yay or nay on the intended-for-pc radiator?

Bull is correct,,anything you can do to make the engine and drivetrain run smoother and cooler will definately help with the reliability and a longer service life,,,but it's a balance between costs and diminished returns,,,,on some but not all of the bikes and cars i build,, the costs sometimes far outweigh the value of the thing i'm working on,,,,,,, I'm starting to realize that now... I wonder if I can use the radiator from my old watercooling loop for this...

Not a good idea that is where the pump is and it creates a lot of pressure right there. Don't believe me take the dispstick out and see oil shot out 6 feet into the air. Also not needed you already have a crankcase vent on the valve cover MORE THAN ENOUGH. I actually did that. Oil is still burning off of my exhaust manifold. I'm getting the impression I should just leave well enough alone and not introduce another potential source of problems. I'll just scrap the whole idea. Now I can spend the money I was going to use on tubing and a tap to buy something else, like CHEESE!

Somebody is not reading my posts on other boards.....hmmmmm young man?
If you install one of these you could probably use a cooler. Very interesting... I will definitely look into that. Edit: It appears that is for 150's

Now I'm gonna have that song stuck in my head all night long.
Also, I don't mean to day that Bash is wrong, but I have heard that hotter coils make for easier starting, but no real additional power.

I'm looking for some mods/parts/stuff to do to my 139qmb that will improve what little reliability and longevity these engines have.
I'm already thinking of an oil catch can and/or secondary crankcase vent.
Of course all of the usual stuff like regular fluid changes, check the tightness of all bolts/nuts/screws, regular walk arounds and inspections, etc
I thought about an oil cooler or even an oil filter, but it seems the oil pump on these engines are really only designed to get oil up to the valvetrain. I looked for an auxiliary oil pump, but they were all too big or took too much power.
Thoughts/ideas/suggestions?

In my opinion, they seem like a gimmick. Also, gapping would be a nightmare.

I have thought about drilling and tapping a hole for the second vent, but I am so damn scared of metal filings in the crankcase.
If I wanted to, I guess I could remove the engine from the scoot and crack the case open so I'll be able to get any filings/shavings, but that seems like a lot of work.
Maybe I could just drill/tap a second hole in the valve cover... although I get the feeling there is a lot of oil splashing around in there.
Bash, remember the theory (especially true for harley riders) that the size and loudness of the engine is inversely proportionate to the size of your... you know... dipstick.

How about drill and tap around the starter gear or maybe starter reduction gear? All kinds of air space up there with minimal oil throw.
I think that is a 150cc; my starter and bendix look completely different. I would like a secondary crank case vent because I believe (I don't know this for a fact, but I do believe) the single vent at the valve cover is inadequate at efficiently releasing all of the pressurized air from the crank case, especially since I have a big bore kit installed.

I have never washed the scoot or ridden in the rain or when roads are wet.

Already have a new plug.
I will get to tuning the carb now that the regulator won't overcharge the battery.

Well my spark plug is rather dark-brown/black. I haven't tuned the carb yet because I was wrestling with an electrical issue. Should I try and get everything tuned up before I do further testing?
