I am trying to decide on a helmet for my Sym Citicom 300i. I am pretty set on a full faced helmet....but I don't want to look like a fool because I have the wrong kind of helmet on. Just trying to find a safe, semi comfortable helmet. What do you guys think about this? link

As long as it has DOT certification, the only things that matter are a snug fit, and comfortable to wear. Looks are up to your taste, and should be the last consideration after choosing proper fit and feel.

I too wear a full face helmet....
Some options, flip down tinted visor, flip up front, vents, flasher LED on helmet...
I've used a bunch of different styles and what I found, a flip up face is best... MY wife has one that only the visor flips up and I don't care for it... Makes me feel too claustrophobic... However, hers has a flip down sun visor inside her helmet behind the shield..... I wish mine had that...
What I recommend, Get one that has a flip up face and a built visor (In effect, at times you have two shields, yes) and make sure it has vents....
If you get caught in fog or the "wrong" kind of condition, your shield can fog up on you.....

What it looks like means nothing. Get one that will keep your brains all in one place for the EMS crew. Makes it MUCH easier to put you back together at the hospital.

Agreed with a full face modular flip up face. But not too snug. If too much pressure on the temples, you'll get a heck of a headache. Who cares about what you look like, safety first. I witnessed a guy drop his Triumph Rocket at a stop light, standing dtill. His head hit the pavement hard, had to take him away in an ambulance. I wear a modular on my trike. Even a slow speed accident can be dangerous. I'm alive today cause I was wearing a helmet when I got hit by a GMC Jimmy. Lost my leg, but not my life, thanx to my helmet.

I sure don't wear a Helmut to make some type of fashion statement. Looks are Last on my list. I wear no less than a SNELL rating. Ive never been impressed with the Evil Empires House Brand ICON. ICON gear available to the general public is poor compared to much out there. My Favorites are, Arai, Shoe, Shark. These have Great Fitment Charts and Shape guides to properly choose a helmut. We may have the same head size but never the same shape, These also provide several interchangeable Cheek and Cranial Pads to fit you properly. I would encourage you to find a large local dealer and try on the differant Helmut's, and if so it would be nice to Patronize the Stocking dealer with a sale. Huh! My Arai Helmut cost more than my Scooter.

diver is correct about fitment,,,shoei's never fit me great,,,arai (the one i use for high speed work) is perfect,,,,,so is hjc,,,the flipup is great for around town stuff especially if you're in and out of multiple places

The only wrong kind of helmet is one that doesn't fit properly and not dot approved. Looks are secondary. That being said I like my GMax 54s. It fits me well and looks good.

The worst helmet is the one you own and don't wear.

Much better to pay an extra buck or two and try on the helmet than to order one. I am wearing a 3/4 I bought locally.
Don't know how much truth to the tale that a dot is a bit softer shell and better in low speed crashes where a Snell rated is a harder shell with less cushion and better to have in the worst case crashes. The idea is wear your hat and don't crash.

After the MSF course, I had some time to think about what kind of helmet I wanted and decided to go Modular. The first one was cheap and heavy. So I went with this: link
