got this Castrol 4T 4stoke Motorcycle oil. I had been using the Castrol GTX 10w40 car oil but I have noticed a lot smother idle more acceleration and more top end, just a lot smoother running engine with this oil have had it in for almost 200 miles now. It was the same price as the Castrol GTX Drive Hard car oil was so got this I like it a lot better, would recommend it to anyone thats scoot calls for 10w40 they also sell in 20w50 for the big Vtwins.

Doc will disagree but I have always used 4T moyorcycle oil. I use Mobile 1 4T syntheic 10W-40 in the winter and 15W-40 in the summer. I change it every 1000 miles and I think the engine runs smoother and cooler.

yeah I saw the Mobil 1 4t but stuck with the Castrol instead. The guy at Auto Zone basically told me that the other Castrol GTX 10w40 was designed for cars that it would still be ok to use but the 4T Motorcycle oil was designed specifically for 4 Stroke motorcycle engines.( they were same price by a qt so not like he was trying to sell me a oil cause its more expensive) this is my 4th change used Penzoil 10w40 then switched to Castrol GTX 10w40 and now this last one at 2200miles I used the Castrol 4T and i have noticed a difference! I change mine every 1000 first one was first 300 then about every 1000 been doing a little sooner since its a inexpensive oil change. I am going to defenitly stick with the 4T oil! I just have noticed the scoot has been running a lot better since I switched to the 4T, a lot smother running motor especially at idle.

I agree Fairweasel The 4T cycle oil makes a difference. I pay 8.99 a quart at Walmart so it's not a lot of money to have oil designed for high rpms.

Call me a skeptic, but I have a hard time believing that an oil type is going to have any discernible impact on engine idle/high rpm, or in how the scooter runs in general. Perhaps better wear protection, sure, but I can't imagine how an oil, of the same weight, is going to have any impact on engine operation. The engine doesn't have a brain you know, "Hey there, i've got myself some fancy motorcycle oil!" There's the weight, and the additives. The additives are what differentiates a motorcycle oil from a car oil. Those additives shouldn't have any affect on normal engine operation. In fact it doesn't really even make sense; the additives added to that motorcycle oil have no purpose in our scooters, as that oil isn't going anywhere else other than the engine (not the case for motorcycles).
If I'm off base please let me know; I'm certainly not an expert in the subject.

I'm sure there would be no issues, I just don't see any benefit in the extra $ your spending on that oil. There's nothing even in it that applies to our scooters. It's not going to hurt anything though.

If there is less wear and friction over regular motor oil, then why wouldn't the engine run smoother at idle and at high RPM's? On my GY6 150 I had over 5,000 miles on it and use Mobil T4 and not once did I ever add oil and the engine ran great. For a few dollars more every 1000 miles I feel it's well worth it. My Dad worked for Chevy for 41 years as an engineer and they actually ran a 1955 Chevy 265 Cubic Inch V8 for 200,000 without every changing the oil, only adding oil. The engine was then torn down and no damage found. So go figure.

I am probably getting close to the recommended change on the majesty, have rotella dino in it and I may go to rotella synthetic this time. A while back I decided to use rottella in all 3 scooters. as far as the "W" rating as in 10w 20w etc I only go for summer oil. if it is cold enough to need thinner oil I sure aint going to go out in it and ride! john

It wasnt any more expensive for the Castrol 4T let me see if I still have receipt yep 3.99 for a qt. same price as the car oil Castrol GTX was, the synthectic might be more my Wildfire 150cc called for a expensive 5w50 synthetic oil like 8.99 a qt. but call a coincidence or what been like 200 miles and ive noticed a difference, also added some Lucas Gear oil might be the combination or all of a sudden my scoots running alot better, but Im getting more like 80mpg now and was only getting 70mpg so I have saw a better gas mileage too!

I have also seen that Amsoil sells an actual scooter oil for 4 stroke and a kind for 2 stroke oils too, but like the guy at Auto Zone said its a 4 stroke even though its still a scooter the oil is designed for 4 strokes and for the high revving engine of motorcycles so it might be over kill! but since it cost the same cant hurt to use what could be a better oil since its designed for 4 stroke, instead of regular car motor oil and I fell its better! if its designed to help protect high revs of a motorcycle I know even my riding shouldnt hurt my scoot as much LOL
