Well it was bound to happen. It's Florida and season is in for "tourists." Driving along the highway at about 45-50 mph going to gamestop to trade in some games. It's a 3 wide lane. I was in the middle lane. All lights were green and I was just cruising enjoying the beautiful day. I turn over to the right lane so I could turn into the plaze, I switch lanes and there is a guy just sitting at the green light. Traffic was moving. I hit my front brakes and rear brakes. Back tire locks up of couse. The scooter suddenly slides and I fly off, roll for about 40 feet. No broke bones and luckily wasn't hit by a car. Have some SEVERE cuts though. Entire left arm is skid down. No skin on the under side. Left knee has no skin. Part of my butt on my left side is missing skin. Right elbow is rough and so is the right knee. Hurts like crazy!!! It was bound to happen and this is the season!!! haha. Scooter isn't all that bad. It just skid, didn't do any flips or anything. So my left mirror, left tail light... and pretty much the left side is scratched bad as hell. Oh well. Got up. Took a few minutes, and rode home and got some First Aid.

Pop1205, Sorry to hear of your accident, yes get those scrapes fixed up you do not want to get an infection. Good to hear no broken bones but it sounds like you really got scraped up pretty bad.
So you did not see the guy sitting in the lane with the green light when you switched lanes and you braked before running into his rear is that what happened. Alleyoop

I'm sorry to hear that you went down. Did that myself back in September but I wasn't hurt nearly as badly as you. The bruised ribs for a couple weeks were the worst part. I hope you heal up quickly. The scoot can be fixed. You'll probably be a little gun shy when you start riding again but that passes.
Did anyone stop to help?

Glad you are OK. I have been fortunate. In all the years I rode bikes I never went down on the highway. Now those weekend dirt bike outings were a different story...but alcohol was usually involved. I don't drink now.. ;D

oh gosh ,sorry man!....i always say in my other forums,,accident is bound to happen...as to when and where? that's for us to see and feel....the only way to prevent accident of this nature is to stop riding.
you can post pic of your scooter,,but please don't post pic of yourself..you are un-recognizeable at this point in time..lol
the BEST way to avoid accidents is to be vigilant....you have to have a 360 view of everything around you when u ride,.... i look at the side mirrors a million times,,and i turn my head left and right up and down million times.(no,jr..i didn't get a stiff neck, lol). ..this technique saved me from potential hazards many times in my 23 years of riding...( ,no jr,,i'm not old,i'm only 41yo,lol). Like in Florida, here in AZ during winter,we see a lot of Snowbirds(visitors) from canada, east coast, etc. name it. and 99.9% of them are 70yo and above....they give us 80% mark up on our bussines around here and 50% of the total vehicular accidents recorder daily....i'm also keeping an eye on them when i ride,,,if a car swerves left and right in the street,i know that it's a snowbird. i just avoid them. and i honk my 139db air horn on them,,not being mean, but it's my way of telling them to be alert before they eventually meet an accident..i save them many times.
anyway...it's 37F today here in yuma....gotta go..i need to put on my 6 layers of riding gears and hit the road..
..and pop1205,,hope you heal soon man..take care!

What Luke said. And always dress correctly for the ride. Doesnt matter if it is a short or long ride. Unlike that punk kid Luke(41 indeed!!! 8^) ) I am on the downhill side of 74 and I always keep my eyes moving, on the scoot or in my cage. Ride defensively and drive defensively. Just kidding, Luke!!! 23 years of riding gives you an authority to teach proper riding approaches.

Pop, after all the weeks you spent getting your 250 running again you end up in a accident. I hope you mend fast and from your injuries I have a feeling you had a helmet on. I know you wanted a new paint job, but was this wasn't the way to accomplish it.

Luke - you're tempting fate here. Remember it's not if you go down it's when. IMO, the longer you put if, the worse it is. So go out and get it out of the way. I'm joking of course.
