new guy turbo51henry, I picked this scoot up dirt cheep has 511 miles on it. and it was acting funny when i first tested it but price was right 2006 with 511 miles. First thing I bought new battery and reworked all connections to new battery, then i replaced missing screws of which there were many. than i replaced all the nuts with the nylon locking type replaced the air filter and bored some bigger holes in the plastic housing. All of the screws got a good dose of this stuff called shoe goop, holds like iron and released the screws with out damage to plastic.
This bike runs like a top and the cooling system is working fine but will still flush and replace the coolant. and change the oil as well. unit came with remote start and alarm system .
Wondering do they all have these features?
I'm ashamed to say it but I stole this bike for 800 dollars and by the way I must have gotten Lucky cause the mass DMV registered me with no problems. This was my biggest fear.
I also removed the spongie thing from around the air filter and a layer of this material which is is used to filter the air on a window saker air conditioner and glued a piece in the inside of the cheek of the plastic housing and it seems to be working good. Hope I don't catch fire. o, and thanks for the good info the other day. Turbo

Good score, dude, a lot of people had trouble with these, but you sound plenty capable, so carry on scooting.

Congratulations on getting your Storm 250 (from China) running good, Turbo. These scoots usually do come with alarm/remote start systems and some have stereos built in. Sounds like you got a good deal. I have registered two scooters and a motorized bicycle here in MA with no problem.
Do the cooling system maintenance and keep an eye on the operating temp as the weather starts warming up.

dude i have the same scooter, im going to give you the "run down" what to do to this thing so it runs like a champ. i got mine basically brand new for $300. it had a number of problems and i was a noob when i first got it, believe me if you do this you will save yourself problems in the long run. replace vacuum fuel pump with a 3/8" fuel line/w manual on/off valve replace intake manifold ( the current manifold will crack) replace as many lights as you can with leds REMOVE the alarm asap (it can drain your battery randomly) be patient when you re-add new coolant, the bike has dual radiators so itll take a little bit before it fully 'burps" itself of air. heres how my storm looks

It is an awesome bike, and in spite of some initial problems and issues the built qualit is decent and above the average in terms of a Chinese bike. (Too bad the winter in Michigan is long and severe which really shorten the riding season). It is the ultimate platinum experience. tk3000
