Stuck up? LOL after 44 years of riding Ive noticed a strange pheonoma when on my lil toy. When I rode the motorcycles I noticed many HD riders would not wave to croch rockets, however everyone waved to HD riders. Now, driving the wildfire 50, (on the 150 frame), I notice bigger bike riders dont wave to us! In the last three weekends I did a mental test waves to 37 big bikes, two waved back. Many look straight ahead and dont see you. ROFL. I actually saw at a gas station a Sportster ( HD) rider ignore a guy on a beautiful Black SilverWing, guess it looks too much like a Scoot. rofl. I guess the image is so important, (Last HD rolled out the door at $19,500, first big bike was a 500 Suzuki back in 67 rolled out the door for $950.00, lol). Never mind the sore butt, droning engine, summertime heat and most of all the 40 miles to a gallon. Guess it takes all types to make the world go round. Final thought, when approaching another Scooter/moped the riders usually smile and wave like Im a long lost Buddy! Funny one here, Dressed in HD leathers and full face HD helmet walked into Jewlery store to have battery replaced in the coveted orange Face Harley watch. Immediately the guy ( BMW rider),recognized the watch and its supposed value. He immediately started bike chat and when I told him the HD had been replaced by a Wildfire he stopped rofl.

I wave at bike riders all the time on my Chinese scooter. Most wave back. Maybe it's a regional thing. Maybe it's because I wave at them like I'm on a bike too.

You should see the looks I get when I'm out on the Big Ruckus. Not only do most people wave back but they stare at me too. It looks like two wheel construction vehicle and it's fairly small with big headlights. I think they wave because they don't know what the heck it is.

Funny you guys should mention HD riders. Not one has ever acknowledged my existence wile riding my china 50cc. On the other hand, just this morning 2 sport bike riders side by side with mohawk helmets waved at me first. Go figure I guess the more money you spend puts you in a higher class. Even if your obviously a weekend rider. I still think smaller bikes are more fun anyway!!!!

Most crotch rocket riders wave back here, as do scoots. HD's aren't bikes, theyre tractors somebody forgot to put all the wheels on. They just seem to attract a certain crowd for the most part. Biggest issue here is drunk cagers, I don't get how its ok to drink for 6 hours in a bar and drive home? It's not like theyre hard to spot, theyre the ones doing 1/4 of the speed limit and still unable to keep it in the lane.

It was so funny in england when the new mini came out, all mini drivers wave to each other its some kind of law. The 'new' mini drivers didn't get the waves they were expecting. It's not a mini if you don't have to run the heater in hot weather to cool the engine!

I believe the attitude of a lot of the harley riders has changed for the better in the last 30 years. Like a harley was the only motorcycle to have period. One because it is american made and the only major brand made here since the indian of the 50's. I prefer to buy American but when the only choice is a 900 lb twin cyl 1200cc viberator, unless I like harleys I have no choice. In the last 20 years more and more yuppies have bought harley and thinned the ranks and hence the more waves. I wave but just to be sociable and actually would prefer that the wave custom would go away, it some times creates resentments instead of good feelings. john

I don't think HD is made In America anymore!!! I think It's India now. They maybe built/assembled here but, the parts are manufactured overseas. If someone knows different please correct me. I bet those big bikes have at least one China made part these days especially if you put on an after market piece of chrome. Enough about HD, I'm gonna go ride my scoot

Last year, on my 150 cc scoot, everyone on 2 wheels waved, or returned my wave. Now, on my 250, I have noticed that some HD riders ignore me when I wave. They keep their heads straight ahead and do NO eye contact. Seem like a very stuck up bunch. But all scooter drivers wave to each other.
I went to my churches motorcycle club meeting this weekend, and everyone, even the HD's were friendly. I was the only scooter there. I was surprised when at least 5 people (at different times made comments to the good. 5 people told me they had been wanting to get 250 cc scoots! All liked my bike.
