Well it took me less than 24hrs after getting the insurance check for my totaled Roketa to get my next scooter !! This afternoon I purchased a 2004 Stella 150cc 2 cycle scoot. Made by LML in India . It is pretty much a Vespa PX150 with a disk brake in the front . Milage is almost 1900 miles. So far this evening I have tipped it over accidently twice. Luckily no scratches. This bird is totally different than the Roketa I had. It may take me a week or two to get used to its different feel and handling characteristics . The scoots balance and feel are totatly unlike the Roketa aswell. The rider sits abit higher aswell when compared to a chinese scoot. Yes it's a 150 so I'll be posting as things progress with it. Now I feel I have a bit of class and styling ! Having to deal with a manual clutch will take some getting used to . Lesson from first very short ride this afternoon . Must remember not to add gas when letting off the clutch quicklyy or it will pop a wheele as it tried to do on me ! This scoot has a manual 4 speed tranny that is on the left handlebar . The rear brake is on the scooters floorboard instead of on the left hand handlebar like on a chinese scoot. Let the fun begin !! ;D will

New scoot !

That headlight reminds me of; The War of the Worlds by H. G. Wells! That is a really nice looking scoot, I have always liked that design with that rear end. Looks kinda retro to me. What got my attention is it a manual transmission, I really prefer this. The variator stuff reminds me of my old and gone Montgomery Ward riding lawn mower back whenever. But, I guess they work better now. It what my scooter have. Anyway, I am curious how it shift? When I first looked I automatically assumed the Shifter and Brake were both on the floor and the left grip had the clutch lever. I understand you to say the shifter itself is on the left grip Does it twist or something like the old 3 speed bicycles Well it really looks nice. Oh!! Is this a belt or chain drive? Take care; Sam I am

That is a 150cc 2 stroke, w/4 speed manual? Man!, there are all kinds of go-fast things you can do to that beauty! ;D

"Does it twist or something like the old 3 speed bicycles " The entire grip assembly twists . There are 4 gear markings where it mates to the rest of the handlebar assy. I'll get some more pics taken later on today and post them . " Oh!! Is this a belt or chain drive?" Neither !!! The tranny is all gears !! No belt , no chain . This scoots tranny is just as the original vespas were long ago. There are 3 gear sets that mate inside the crankcase . They each have a specific gear ratio's that can be adjusted by changing out certain gears . I'll trackdown more info on that and post it. "That is a 150cc 2 stroke, w/4 speed manual? " Yep !! ;D This will be once again totally new for me. The upgrades one can do to this scoot are many. One doesn't have to bore the crankcase out either if you want to put a larger 177cc or 166cc cylinder assy in . Yes you do need to upjet the carb like you would on a chinese scoots carb aswell when doing an upgrade like that. Right now the first thing I need to make is a rear rack . They want $80+ . Im the tinkering type so I'll try to make one before I go buying one. I'll leave it at that . Let me know if you have more questions ! will ;D

Great looking scoot Will, I think you're the only guy on the forum with one like that. That 2 cycle makes more HP than a four stroke so yeah, that wheel will come off the ground. Keep us posted, we're enjoying this almost as much as you are. Rich

I sure wish the chinese would have been able to come up with a 2stroke 150. I do like the twist and go but with a 2stroke for power I know I would be happy. I have seen wheelys with a gy6 but it takes a thousand dollars worth of mods and reliability goes out the window. a small twin cyl. snow mobile engine in a scooter would be ideal. john

Working on home built rear rack for my milk crate basket I had on the back of my old scoot . So far spent $9 on metal and $6.00 for dremil cut off wheels . I may need to get another 3 pack of them . The design is my own. I'll post pics when I finish up. will

I'll get pictures posted of my finished rear rack I built from scratch . Today was my first outting with the new scoot . Trust me on this ,it was learning expierence unto itself. I managed to pop one wheele when letting off the clutch and adding too much throttle . I spent close to an hour and a half in a nearby parking lot to get familiarized with the clutch . The new setup of the clutch assembly will need time to get used to. I learned that you have to use the clutch when shifting gears on the left side handlebar ..I found that out when I arrived at the scooter shop . I wasn't using the clutch whe shifting gears on the way there. A newbies mistake. Thursday I'll adjust the clutch cable to make it abit more sensitive to my liking . This scoot is very responsive to the throttle and gets up and goes ! Luckily I can safely use the 87octane gas with this engine . The carbon buildup the 4 cycle engines have to deal with when using lower octane gas isn't a problem with the 2 cycle engines on the vespa and stella's . I'll post more as things move along. will

Just a quick update . I learned how to adjust the shifter cables and also how to adjust the scoots clutch cable this afternoon. The guy who helped me was off another forum . Bit by bit I am getting used to the different gear system and how it operates . One thing to get is a dogleg clutch lever. With my med-small hand,s it takes abit more reach to just use the stock clutch lever when shifting. I did notice that the airflow over the front skirt area is much more on a Stella ( and Vespa) than on a chinese scoot. You also sit much more upright .The dash is also more flat and at a less angle than on my old Roketa . I'll keep posting as things get going. Happy Holidays Everyone ! will c.

Just a quick update . My scoot is still having carburetor issues . I may be looking at rebuilding it after the first of the month . Yesterday I was able to start the engine but it is spitting oil a tad from the exhaust pipe. Normally on a gy6 engine you would be in big big trouble if that was happening . That isn't the case on a Vespa type 2 cycle engine. The 2 cycle engine smokes abit more and it actually can be used to better tune your Delorto carb . I'll be posting about the differences between the standard GY6 carburetor and the totally different Vespa 2 cycle carbs later tonight or early tomorrow. Even with the Japanise 2 cycle engines the italian scoots carbs are totally different . I saw the postings about others having carburetor issues and thought posting about a vespa carb would be nice just for an info purpose. Have a great start to your week ! will ;D

I finally got some decent weather to work on my scoot today . Items addressed : Carb fuel air mix on carb and engine idle screw on top. The fuel-air screw is now adjusted out to about 2 1/4 turns out after letting the engine warm up fully . Factory settings for the stella LML 2T engine (and my guess vespa px) is 2 1/2 turns out if I remember corectly. Today I started at 3 turns out . Hopefully I'll be able to get back on the road if weather permits. One thing on the vespa PX older vespa's and stella's : make sure you turn your fuel petcock off when done for the day. You'll flood the engine and carb if you don't !! will
