Just turned over 10,000 on my Roketa 250 cc 54b. The following is a list of parts I have changed or had changed. Replaced China tires at 2,000 to the Avon Vipers. Changed the rear Viper once more at 5500 miles, front tire is still good with 8000 miles on it. Replaced every hose with Gates vacuum and fuel lines 3/16” for vacuum and 1/4” for fuel line. Replaced CDI although that was not the problem. Replace coil which was the problem Replaced all brake lights and signal lights with LED’s Replaced headlights with 50w 55W BA20D bulbs (found on Ebay) Had them since August and no problem with the lens getting hot. Replaced CVT belt at 5000 miles but still had miles left on it. Replaced Variator as it was defective. Installed Dr Pulley sliders 12 gram Replaced entire clutch assembly Replaced battery Replaced signal and light switch thanks to JR as wiring was not a match with the switch I purchased. Adjusted valves at 2,000 miles and at 5,000 miles, and it’s been fine since. Normal maintance consisted of changing oil every 1000 miles, fuel filter every 1500 miles, gear oil every 1500 miles, clean air filter every 1000 miles, spark plugs just every 5000 miles. I have always used Sea Foam with every fill up. I think that covers it all. I will say this in the 10,000 miles of riding my scooter it has stalled out 3 times, but that was because of a bad coil, and it did restart after cooling down. It is just as fast as when I first purchased it and it starts every day. So for the first 10,000 miles I am a happy camper with it, although it has been cursed at more then a few times.

I don't know what's more impressive - the fact that you have 10k or that you found 50w 55W BA20D bulbs. Great job on both!

Congratulations, that's very impressive! How many times did you have to go around the block to get the odo on 10,000? I've did that, you make tighter and tighter circles so you don't go 10,001 a 1/4 mile from your driveway and botch the picture. I think this is what KZ has been trying to say, do the right stuff to a Chinese scoot and you get a decent ride for much less than the big brands. You've got 10K and will get many more for a great price even though you had to put a little coin into it. Rich

The funny thing about me taking the picture exactly at 10,000 was it was in the parking lot of a convenience store where I was going to get a cup of coffee. I pulled in and looked down and there it was right at 10,000. Took out my phone and snapped the shot.

Trailheadmike I lucked out doing a search on Google as it showed a dealer on Ebay. As you can see by the picture below they are very bright and have been on the scooter since August.

Despite certain naysayers 10k, 20k and more are attainable-on the original engines. The secret to high mileage is being aware of your engine and keeping it at a sensible pace. In five or six years there will be a 50,000 mile club. I hope to enter the 10,000 mile club in the next year or so.

well , I would be happy with 1 or 2 thousand killometers , without some regulator , carb , bad battery , off center rear wheel hub , bad master cylinder and two engine rebuilds . I guess I just had bad luck . I hate to say my chino shows just under 4k killometers . I feel if I tried to cheat and hook up my spedo cable to a drill , and try to run it to 10k I think it would break . Did I mention my chinometer is fast by more than 10mph .
Well I'm very happy for you speedracer , maybe I'm just sour grapes at the moment .

kz1000st You are right about using it at a reasonable pace. The fastest I have taken it to is 65 mph just to see if it would get there. It did and plenty left, but I seldom go over 55 mph and if I do it's not for a long period. I use my scooter around town and small trips.

Congrats on your good luck with the Roketa! It is probably a testament to your self sufficiency in repairs. However, it does not surprise me that there are not too many folks posting a 10K milestone.

Bigkahuna, Thanks, but I never had any major repairs involving the engine or it's parts. The defective variator was the worst problem as it eat two sets of Dr Pulley Sliders before I decided to just order a new variator. I'm not good with most repairs so when the clutch starting squeezing instead of taking it all apart to change the pads on it, I ordered a new unit for $70.00. I go by the rule "keep it simple stupid" and although it may cost more I have saved a lot of aggravation. I do believe in the PDI and making sure all the connectors are tight and all the junk that needs to changed is changed.

I lifted this off another site to prove a point.
I had just rolled over 14,000 miles on my 2007 JCL MP250 when I got run over by an out of control car. Engine oil was changed at 300 miles and then at 1,000 miles and every 1,000 miles after that. Valves were checked and adjusted at 300 and 1,000 miles and then checked without need of further adjustment every 3,000 miles until the scoot was totalled in the wreck. Final drive oil was changed at 300 and 1,000 miles and then every 3,000 miles. I replaced my stock headlight bulbs with BA20D 35 watt halogen lamps. I did not want to chance using 55 watt lamps due to the Shark amplifier, speakers, and XM Satellite radio audio system I was running on it. This Scoot replaced a TANK 250 with a CF-Moto engine. I rolled up over 60,000 miles on it using the same service intervals. It had started using oil and was blowing blue smoke. The body panels were ragged and needed replacement. The radiator was weeping around the solder joints and needed to be replaced too. After adding up the cost to rebuild the old TANK or just buying the new JCl, the new JCL won the low bid contract. I still have some of the old TANK Scoot. I've been selling parts of it to a couple of people that have that model as well.
Hmmm. Let's see. In 74,000 China miles I don't see any major repairs. At 60,000 the Tank needed work but was still running. Might I point out that $15,000 Harleys belch their rings and valves at 40,000 like clockwork so a rebuild for an engine at 60,000 is really not that bad. Especially a 250cc motor, from a scooter costing 1/6 as much as the great American Freedom machine.
Unlike certain people who need to replace engines every 1,000 miles mine has a paltry 6,100 and I expect it to run forever.

I got 5200 on mine. I started to ride my scooter new and the counter broke in the first 7 miles. I road the first year, without getting a new counter. Put approximently 1450 miles on the scooter. Now got 3774 on the new counter + 1450 approximent miles on scooter. It is somewhere are 5200 miles now. But congrats on the 10,000 mile club.. That really is an achievement. Mine has 5200 and 4 years old. I did not ride much due to having foot surgery last Spring and was not able to put weight on it until almost August.
