That white insulator says you're too lean.

Too lean is right. although picture isn't too clear. Looks like the tip is white as well. Go back the 1/2 turn and run it for 20 miles then check it again.

I do have my needle jet set with the clip to the highest setting to rich and before turning in a 1/2 turn in, I did have the a/f turned out 2 1/2 turns.

Definately looks lean. Don`t forget your A/F screw only controls mixture from idle to 1/4 throttle, primary jet from 1/4 to 1/2, main jet 1/2 to full throttle, all overlapping to a certain extent. Ideally you need a longish stretch of road with a pull off at the end, go full throttle for a couple of hundred metres and then cut the engine whilst going full pelt, coast to the side of the road and then check the plug. Just to double check, you have the clip in the slot nearest the needle end ?

rob63, yes I have the clip in the slot nearest to the end of needle, scoot is running great, the only issue I have is after its warmed up it idles rough when stop at light or stop signs, almost like its miss, but it doesn't stall.

You have the needle in the wrong POSITION, You have move the CLIP DOWN to RICHEN it you are running with the NEEDLE in the LEANEST POSITION. With the CLIP UP near the END you LOWERED the needle LEANING it. YOU want to RAISE the Needle so move the CLIP DOWN to raise the needle. Alleyoop

I did ask that Alleyoop, my first thought was that he`s moved the clip towards the blunt end, but he`s confirmed that he`s moved the clip to the needle (pointy) end, so raising the needle in the jet. Unless of course there has been a misunderstanding ?

You could be right buddy, something lost in translation maybe. Depends what end he`s thinking of, the blunt or pointy end

Hi alleyoop, I know I have the needle jet set at the richest point, may have got confuse on what end, you remember when I had all that trouble, and people thought the my scoot was set on lean, so I check and it was set on the last possible clip pushing up the needle (rich) and at that time I turn a/f in all the way, counted 2 1/2 turns out. since then you know I replaced CDI, recently egnition coil, replaced spart plug, replaced fuel filter, Hey, I even cleaned my air filter. I can report to you it doesn't shut off anymore. but it is doing this idle thing at stop lights.

At stops lights after it is nice and hot HOW DOES THE IDLE ACT? Does it bounce go up and down? Alleyoop

I just look at the thread about setting clip on needle jet, the clip that moves towards the pointed end enriches the carb, thats where mine is set.

No, its just like jerking, but the needle doesn't move, just sound like its miss and I can feel it, when it cold idle runs good. It almost feels like when the clutch is engaged, but I fixed that area. I'm going to try to record it, and post it later.
