A new engine can burn oil from the start and will do so for a while. But if it suddenly started after 45(kilometers) then it may be a leak past the rings(worst case) or a leak past the head gasket (not so bad, half hour to an hour to replace) or could even just be the rings are not seating good enough, I say go drive it and open her up, go wot for a quarter mile after a good warm up then check if it still is burning oil

What about driving it even slower? Say 20- 30 mph. I can't get to complete wot without doing an adjustment to the throttle cable. what about the emissions? I have an oil smog collector. The hose comes from the head cover, goes straight to the emissions canister, then back to the air breather assembly. If that is full?

Does it smoke during idle? If so slower wont help. The combustion in the engine forces the rings out, that's why I said to go wot, to force them out against the cylinder and make then seat better.
First thing I did with my new scoot was warm it up good by driving slow then go wot.for about a half mile at a time..I was burning oil at first but it stopped fast

Yes, you have to run them up to good rpms do some 40-50mph runs so the rings get seated evenly. Alleyoop

Use dino oil 15w/40 no additives...how much oil do you have in it? Sounds to me like you have too much and you are getting a pressurization of the sump...
In a 150 cc 750 ml is enough, about 3/4 of a quart...

When new they ususally will burn some oil until the rings seat well. So ride it vary the speeds but get it up to some good rpms DON'T Baby it to much. The rings need some good rpms to seat well. If after a hundred or so miles it is still blowing smoke then I would say you have a problem. Alleyoop

Is this a Coke Can engine from Ebay? If you bought from a reputable dealer you should be able to exchange it..worth a try...

Well give it some more use and see what happens...make certain you top up the oil on the dipstick so you don't run too low.
