You need the right amount of oil...750 ml..to much or less is not good.

Ok, so it's still burning oil, mostly on slower speeds. I'm going to run out a slow speeds this weekend for a distance.

What I did from the start with my 150 and also with the majesty When I had it bored and installed new rings was to do a semi-hard break in. neither ever burned oil after 50 miles. ***** full throttle from stop to 5000 rpm....let up and coast to 20mph then full t to 5000rpm and so on for maybe 5 miles then total cool down and repeat. The cool down is important ,..... after a hundred miles I just took at easy and no more than 6k for another hundred. The rings have to wear down to fit the piston and bore and once they do you will have a decent engine. If they don't get seated properly the engine will never live up to its potential. john

No synthetic or synthetic blend oil on break in..it is too slippery and the rings take a very long time to seat..After 500 miles you can use synthetics...
What addatives did you used?...they can cause problems at break in also. I break engines in like John mentioned, but the heat cool cycling is important..failing that riding in stop and go traffic in the city works well, but you want the engine to cool down after about 30 minutes....

Ok, I am not sure this is working. I an really going through oil. I thought there was progress but I tried to go slow & it's burning oil alot. I'm going to take muffler off, hang it so the oil drains oil, I'm going to collect and see how much comes out. Then I'm going to re attach. I think at higher speeds it is better. But at low speeds it's terrible.

If its leaking.that much oil that its in the.muffler it is probably a gasket

Yea your probably right H3nry, if oil is sitting in the muffler it has to be leaking badly and it actually points to a gasket since it runs pretty good. If it where the rings it would have low compression and would not have good power. Would be hard to start and not run so good. Alleyoop

I hope this helps. I took off valve cover. It won't start with it off. It turns over but no start. What could cause that? seems compression isn't being achieved without valve cover on.

Run a compression check on the engine...the valve cover shouldn't be an issue...there is slight pressurization in the engine but it is handle by the valve cover vent hose

Um, the problem is the egr tube coming from head. That is what is stopping it from working, starting.

Yep you are looseing all the compression with that hole open. You can block that off they even have a plate you can buy or make your own. Alleyoop
