If it were my scoot I think I would need more than a weekend off... Sounds like termites to me...

We had a death in the family so I've obviously been occupied with things more important than this thread and the pissing contest that seems to be whirling around it. I would like to , at least once in a while, try to get a difficult problem fixed with everybody working together in the spirit of cooperation and GASP, maybe have some fun at it. I'm home now and I'll take a look at the problem again and see what I can sort out. Losing a loved one puts things it in perspective. Anybody that's waiting to nitpick everything I post and look for mistakes to revel in can print them out, roll them up, and use them in suppository form. If your life is that pathetic that you get satisfaction that way....seek help. Rich

rich, sorry deeply for your loss and couldn't agree more. This scooter is the least of the worries.. Reason I was gone for the weekend is my Girlfriend's mother is extremely sick and has been in the hospital for over a month and will be for a while.. So I agree to many things in life to worry about than who is going to solve the issue.. I appreciate the time that all of you have spent on here trying to figure this thing out.. IF it takes another month, then so be it... Please all take care of what you need to, then we will worry about this scooter.. if you have the time great I will listen, if not I will stay and wait. And lastly, I agree that we all should be working together on EVERY post on this board. That is what I thought we were doing here... HELPING instead of trying to see who can the the first one that solves the issue.. The goal for EVERYONE should be just to solve the issue no matter who's issue it is... On that note .. when you get the chance Rich, im here let me know.. I will do all the test you posted this week now that Im back home..

Is there any two plugs that could be switched on this scooter? On other models some have pretty well identical plugs and sockets but the wiring is different for different circuits. I just skimmed over all of the pages here. I would love to have a hands on with it if it was in my town. The simplest problems can be complicated as hell.
My first real job in electronics after all that schooling gave me a shock, I didn't know any thing practical. I had a boss with almost no education and he solved problems that baffled me in seconds to my hours. The greatest advice he ever gave me "when it turns to crap just go back to the last thing you did before it quit" and "only try one thing at a time". I have also seen mating plugs that the color of wires does not match that are to be plugged together as intended by manuf. also. Could battery polarity be reversed? john

So true John, one can have all the schooling in the world but someone with hands on experience will outdo the book worm 99% of the time. Alleyoop

This is how disgusting JR seems to be.. Not only is he an arse.. but this is what he had to say about Rich.. its a joke.. I came to these forums to get help because One didn't know what had happened and two for the knowledge that I thought was here.... Instead came across someone that thinks he is the GOD of scooters... I also understand you don't know anything about a scooter or it's wiring and followed a complete idiot who put a disconnect on the wrong leg of the wiring and that's by code and others will confirm it. I also understand that you screwed up your scooter and now want to question someone who can fix it and is arguing about a fuse and is too lazy to strip it and seems to be too cheap or lazy to take it to a dealer. Either way I don't care and what's even funnier is you've fooled with the idiot at Doc now for by your own admission over two months and it's still screwed up. So as they say the blind following the blind keep at doc and don't bother asking here for help again. High horse? At least I'm not asking anyone how to fix a scooter wiring system that I could have done when I was in high school. Wow, if I cared one iota what the scooter snob thinks that would cut me to the quick! Let's fix your scooter and shut the miscreant up.
What I'd like you to do first is test the ignition switch according to the protocol I gave you on this page. Please run these regardless of whether you feel that the ignition switch wires are good or bad. I want to get that off of the table and move on. I'll be preparing further tests while you work on the ignition switch.

I had a death in my family on Monday and will be out of town till next week down in Miami.. Im sorry guys that I haven't been able to get this scooter worked on..
Since someone questioned my willingness to work on this its far from the truth.. My family comes first before a scooter.. I will be back next week and will begin working on it again...
I do appreciate all your help, but in this time my wife's family comes first.. See ya all soon...

Very sorry to hear about your loss JG1. Our thoughts are with you.
I'm going to start posting some of these diagrams I've made up for when JG1 gets back. I feel a potential trouble spot is the right handlebar cluster. This is an area that has the killwire next to a ground wire and the start button as well. The mess looks like this:
The start button is a four pole switch that connects two of the poles and opens the other two. The purpose of this is to use a relay to take the headlight offline while cranking the starter:

Hey guys im back.. Thank you for the nice words been a rough 2 weeks. I will be working on the scooter this weekend to try to tackle this mess..
Bashan, I had read on a helix site something very similar to this with an issue on the start button.. I am going to follow your lead and instructions on here and take that apart to see what is going on in that cluster.. And go from there..
Thanks again guys..
