I am going to run a wire from my new HID headlights harnes to my battery with a fuse near the battery but what size wire do I use? It will not be a long way to run it but I have to get to the battery. Thanks Taildrag.

The wire size should be determined by the current draw. There are charts on the internet for current verses wire size and length.

Here's one I ran into:
I use 14 gauge because I'm OCD but you can see it's overkill. Better too much than too little with wires. Ever wonder why the fuse is always just before the battery? Electrons are negative so they flow towards the positive terminal. The red cable is the conduit for all of the circuits before they reach the battery. The fuse is positioned so it pops from the aggregate overload headed for the battery.

Thanks a lot guys. I would have never figured that out on my own. One question. I have a 12 volt battery which is 5 amps. So if I go any where between 3' to 25' I use 18 guage wire. Am I correct with that? Thanks

Depends on the current your head light uses. The current rating of your battery does not have any thing to do with the wire size or the fuse size you are going to use. On your new light it will say how much current it uses.

I am in big trouble. June of this year I ordered and received...1 Zenex Slim HID Conversion Kit H13 (9008) 6000K Hi/Lo Duel Xenon (Diamond White). Since June I have been reading forum after forum getting ready to install. Monday put 2008 Roketa M54B in garage and took off the plastic. Took out old bulbs and put in new..fit nice. Now my trouble..figured out where to put the relay and two ballasts but I have a 3 prong male plug left over. I have the wire that goes to the battery but where do I plug this whole harness? I would like to have this all done by next spring. I also have all the LEDs for the rest. I am in BIG trouble. Thanks for any advice I can get.

Thanks Alleyoop for the quick reply. Yep..I DL'd that a long tome ago and can almost quote it from memory. In the 4th pic. on the far right side of the 'HI-LO MANUAL' is a plug titaled,"connecting outside controller power". I think this is the plug I have leftover and I don't know where it connects on my scoot. It could be that being 871/2 years old and a retired WW2 marine it's too late to start learning new stuff. Too soon old and too late smart. Thanks.

Well I know I am in a rut with this but I have it all but together But where in the world do I hook the thing up? Does it hook up to the left handelbar light switch or to one of the original connections of the lights I removed? As of now I am dead in the water and my scoot is neck-ed.

It's me again. The high/low beam rocker button on left handel bar light switch does not work. I found a picture of the one I will need to order and it shows a white plug at the end of the long black cord with wires in it. I cannot find that white plug anywhere in the front of my Roketa 250 MC54B. Before I order a new switch can some one tell me where that white plug is located on my scoot now? I sure would like to get my new HID headlights installed. Thanks to who ever.

I use the passing light switch to go from Lo to HI, which I have to hold on. I rarely use it though, because the lo beam on the HID's is enough. My hi/lo beam switch does not work and I do not need it. My HID's come on when I turn on the scoot and I have had not probs with the install. I love the light.

I just did this same upgrade today. The old headlight connected to a connector with 4 wires. Brown, Green, White and Blue. The 3 prong connector on your new lights goes to this set.
First color is the new HID connector, second color is the old headlight plug. White to White Blue to Blue Brown to Green
I did have it Brown to Brown but nothing worked.
Now, this worked for me, but my high beam switch is backwards now, so try switching the blue and white. I didn't notice till I had it mostly all back together. It will be easier to swap the wires in the switch than take the whole thing apart again.
You only need one of the old headlight connectors to get it all working. Seal the other one off and let it hang loose. You won't need it.
You can read my thread called "Repairs in Progress" to see my latest update. No details in there though... A few questions that need answers.

I knew it..I knew it. I really messed this light change up. Took 3 days to put the bulbs in 'cause I ordered the wrong type but got them in. Then I saw that the wiring coming from the ballast to the lights don't match 'cause I ordered the wrong bulb. I would like to leave the bulbs (H13) in and exchange the harness and ballasts to fit the H13 bulbs. I got this from Amazon for $79.99 and I am going to see if they will do an exchange for me. If not...I will have to start all over again, AGGGGG!
