i saw the pictures, AND OMG!!!..move over KZ, this guy loosegrit not only put milk crate on his scooter, but he also put Vault, gas tank, tires, dog cage, gas grills,a back pillow,a foldable chair(barely seen), an orange tent,(yes, it's orange), a gray bag with wheels, and there is something on the side of the scooter that looks like a phone directory at the public phone booth,my goodness!!. and on the handlebars area i saw two red clip i guess for clipping his clothes so they won't get blown away by the wind...gosh! The black plastic Vault freaks me out, i'm like,, seriously? to each his own i guess! this guy is 100% prepared for this trip, i can tell indeed,,,"Chinese scooter? Think again" impressive

Truely amazing trip!!! And I thought I was pushing it with my trips to the Uinta Mountains on my 150cc loaded with my camping gear, although I do have a lot more steep grades (some more than the 15% he showed). I think he has inspired me to take some longer (if not higher) trips. Maybe to Geat Basin National Park next year. It's been a long while and I really want to see Leman Caves again. They are the most gorgeous caves I've ever seen and I have been to Carlsbad. Not bigger, just better.

So, there are people spending $3300 for a Vespa 50cc, $3000 OTD for a Honda Ruckus and over $2000 for a Metropolitan. 520 miles, loaded, on a $800 scooter. www.gsmotorworks.com/detail.cfm?id=842Why are people spending all that money?

some people are after quality...i dunno that could be the reason but who knows. Now kliff, you know that's not true. Afterall, look how well the Silver Streak ran after your extensive PDI. After you did the variator tuning on it you had your 250 lb. body rolling at 63 mph with GPS verification.

Real dealers with parts support,a real warranty. I have owned and still have a Chinese scooter and the selling point is they are cheap and you can buy a used one not running for real cheap. But no way on the same level of the scoots you mention. I was at a big E Bay scoot seller and the parts department was a few scoots setting in the corner and the "mechanic" couldn't keep his own 250cc scooter running. They are no longer in the business of selling scooters they sell Saunas now and have nothing to do with scooters. 30 day warranty has now expired.

I'm glad you put "Mechanic" in quotes.
Real dealers with parts support,a real warranty. I have owned and still have a Chinese scooter and the selling point is they are cheap and you can buy a used one not running for real cheap. But no way on the same level of the scoots you mention. I think we're going to have to agree to disagree. Parts are much easier to come by for a China scoot than a Honda, and are cheaper. You'll get the same warranty and support from a Puma, Wolf or Lance dealer as you would from Honda. Yes a Vespa 150 and Honda PCX will outrun a Chinese 150. For over $4000 OTD on both they darn well should, but I wasn't talking 150s. I said 50cc and a good China 50cc will go just as fast, just as long as $3000 high priced 50cc.
