David, when I bought mine last year that was the warrenty. I have it somewhere in my files. They may have changed it for 2010. I will keep everyone posted on what transpires. Just reread post did you mean to say 9/2009. not 2010? As for the shims Iseem to remember that I read that the shims were located under the end bolts on the axle housing, to keep the axle from shifting and was done as a last minute cure by the manufacturer. The bolts were to keep the shims in place. As I have often stated I am a rider not a wrencher. I have great respect for those who are wrenchers.
I do hope that we get the problem fixed. i would like to unload the trike but wont in the shape it is in now.

Wolfhound Ya, I meant 2009, I correct it.
OK, I guess I was wrong about the 1 year warranty.. It's 6 months from the purchase date...

Yeah, David. I just found a copy of the 2010 warrenty in my files. The engine is warrented for 12 months, the rest is 6 months except tire, rim, plastic body parts, suspension and these are not warrented. So I was wrong also, it is 6 months, not 60 or 90 days. Mine did not come with warrenty papers, was picked up at the GA warehouse, also did not have Ice Bear logos on it. The warehouse at that time, 9/09 had a few scoots being warehoused but 2/3 of the building had an assortment of other Ice Bear items. IB imports a lot of stuff in addition to the trikes. Always keep in mind that IB does not manufacture the scooters, That is done by a Chinese company. Ice Bear, Roketa(who seems to have the same trike line in their name), Tank (now bancrupt and gone) all operate in the same manner as do the great majority of scooter brands in the USA. I will post updates on the 150-8, now called the Viking by IB, as they occur.

Thats great David wrenching for over 30 years, I have been wrenching almost 50 years. I believe you misread what they said read the first sentence of what they told jim. " The problem with the gear box happen when we changed the reverse from the side of the unit to the handle bar."
And that makes sense the handle being on the Handle bar the cable travel is very limited. But you get more Cable Travel with the Handle on the Side therefore the Mechanism moves the Gear more sideways inside. No one said that caused your problem. Where is the Article on the Internet about Shims needed to tighten up the final gear mesh. So are they saying the Final gear needs to be aligned further in or out? Alleyoop

I may be mistaken but as I recall the only time I have seen shims mentioned was in reference to the shims put on the axle to keep it stable. On each side, to the outside of the fender braces closer to the hubs are bolts that hold the shims in place, sort of a last minute devise to correct the problem. Ice Bear is a division of Pacific Rim Int. , a Japanese company that has the trikes made in China. They, Pacific Rim, also make or import items other than scooters. I thought that Ice Bear was headquartered in CA. but with all the twists and turns found in this operation may well be headquartered in Canada. Google Pacific rim.

Trick Dacy here. After intense investigation I have found that Ice Bear is imported by Pacific Rim Int. West, headquartered at 2260 S. Archibald Ave., Ste E, Ontario, CA 91761. BBB rating C, an average rating. You can google Pacific Rim Int West and scroll down to Ice Bear or you can check the BBB index for Pacific Rim Int West, aka Ice Bear ATV to verify the above information. (I have way too much time on my hands!!!)

Just added information, Roketa buys their trikes from Ice Bear and ships them under their part number and name.

Jim, from the identical looks of the scoots that is what I thought. However I wonder if Roketa is not selling many since we only hear complaints concerning IB units and not Roketa units. If IB sells the trikes to Roketa then we should be hearing complaints about the Roketa problems as well. By the way, the IB150-8 now has an official name for 2010: The Viking!!! I guess that is to indicate that it is a bad boy tough trike, which it is---------when it is running. Also, thanks Jim for all your recent help. Guys, Rapid Jim is the place to go for parts, IMHO.

From what I have heard from Roketa they are not selling many trikes due to availablity. Ice Bear is selling their bikes by preorder and sold out before the shipment even leave China. Now I can't speak for last year.
You are very welcome, glad I could help you and thanks for the kind words.

A Doc's I wanted to let all of you know, that I believe I found the problem in the drive train that is causing the jumping in the trikes... What I found was: When they added the gear box to the final drive unit, they have 2 set of needle bearings in the right end of the forward/reverse gear box to support the right end (sprocket end) of the final drive output shaft, & ball bears in the final drive cover to support the left end of the final drive output shaft... OK, well in the right side wall of the final drive/engine case there is a recess for a bearing which would be there if the forward/reverse gear box wasn't attached... I believe they left this bearing out thinking it wasn't necessary... So, what I believe is happening is the final drive output shaft is flexing in the middle of the shaft from the torque where they left the bearing out... I believe by putting the missing bearing back in would support the middle of the shaft, then there would be no way the final drive gears will jump.. I'm still waiting for my warranty parts, but when they come in & when I reassemble there will be a 3rd bearing added in the middle of the final output shaft...

Great find Wildman, that sure sounds like something they would do to save one lousey bearing. Keep us posted on what they send you and if the extra bearing will stop the shaft from flexing.
Oh by the way you can order any engine you want for the 150s. You can order one with the Reverse or one without it. Alleyoop

A Alley I've been all this time trying to get straight w/ Ice Bear exactly what parts I need, now I find out tonight the only part in stock is the final drive output shaft, Vince said they had to special order the other parts.. It's looking like I'll be taring Bear down & putting it back together over the winter at this rate...

Did you solve the problem of the missing bearing? If so, where can I find some sort of schematic and specs for fixing the problem. I talked to you on another blog some time ago. I am putting 15.5 gm slide weights in. They should be here this afternoon. I was told (I don't know how it works!) that the heavier weights would help the shifting process.
