Good grief Mickey, if G man got the right wd, good freakin' luck. That is a nightmare. I agree completely, keep the energy of the pump away from the ECU. The only thing I'm concerned about is does the ECU need feedback from the pump to operate? I'd hook the pump up to the ignition switch and ground it right to the battery to isolate it. If the ECU won't operate you might have to run voltage through the feedback circuit on the ECU. At $300.00 that's a bit of a gamble. Why do they engineer crap like this on a scooter? Rich

We can't tell what wires those are from the picture. You'll have to expose more by taking off some plastic and show us where these wires run. We would be glad to help you out but we need more information than what you're providing. Imagine it from our perspective and go from there.

Pete's a good dude, if you think he ever says something offensive it's just a breakdown in vernacular. He's hip and the rest of us are not. We need to have him clue us in on the hip phrases. I just bumble along with gee whillakers! Rich

That looks like vapor recovey and this is how it works:
This is how you remove it:
I suggest you do that and get rid of all the potential problems it carries with it.

Very important...read the caption in the first photo!:
Read the captions in the second photo:
Third, if you guys would just use the direct link on photobucket and use the image button you wouldn't have all that code hanging out there. I cleaned yours up Bailey. Fourth, by switching the bullet connectors you sent 100v AC to the trigger port which usually receives about .5v AC. So I suspect you fried the trigger circuit and consequently the CDI is toast IMO. Well that's a nice pic and a great looking scooter. But I was hoping more for a pic of the engine compartment. Nevertheless, read over Fuel and Vac Line ID. It's in the Library under Air Fuel & Carb.

Good call by Alley, they can do that too. Some of them just use a lot of juice while monitoring your bike. You can't just turn them off. Alley and a few others know how to unhook them, I'll let one of them answer you. You can't just unhook them, the bike won't start. Isn't that lovely? Rich

Seafoam is not carb cleaner but it cleans carb passages and other fuel related components. Carb and choke cleaner, the real vile smelling spray stuff, WILL damage plastic parts. You can soak any metal part in carb and choke cleaner but do not soak plastic parts in it or leave them exposed to it. I wouldn't think Seafoam would hurt plastic but I wouldn't soak plastic in it for a long time just to be safe. So Seafoam is NOT carb cleaning fluid. Carb cleaning fluid is the stuff in the spray can. Seafoam safe, carb cleaner NOT safe. We good? Rich

Jct is a veteran of many bikes, many miles, and many turns of a wrench. He feels like I do, something is wrong. I didn't say the things I did to be confrontational, I just don't want to see you get hurt. I will say no more on this thread. Good luck to you sir, Rich

I agree completely. These young riders buy a bike that should require a special license and think they're racers. They're dangerous in themselves but the jacked up trucks that have their head up their arse scare me the most. Talking on their phone and blasting music, I cringe when they come up behind me. I always assume the worst when somebody is pulling up to an intersection in front of me and it has saved me many times. I even have did evasives from some clown coming up behind me but you have a lot less control. You'd think all of the energy that riding defensively requires would take away from the joy of it. But it just seems part of it. I'm always watching and always aware...."no lapses", that's my motto. No music, no phone, just riding. As quiet as the SYM is, it makes it's own music. Rich

Here's how to run the parasite test:
10 mA is the absolute upper limit. The draw down is due to faulty diodes leaking current. Diodes live in the R/R. Run the test like the diagram shows and it may confirm what you already suspect. If it is leaking the only short term solutions are unhook the battery when not in use or a trickle charge. The fix is the R/R.
