Do these have electric fuel pumps? I just got a used one that runs great and it has a "buzz" with the key on engine off. I can't hear it, I can just feel it. A small vibration.

Everything appear to operate normally. Bike has 3000 miles. Is it possible that when the belt thins out enough from wear it starts to slip? Because the slipping only occurs when they CVT is all way in high range. It never slips before then

I did that. Nothing looks out of place. No wetness inside the CVT case. CVT operates normal.

The scoot is acting weird. It takes off from a stop and gets going perfectly fine, then around 25 mph or so the CVT suddenly goes to the highest ratio (engine rpm drops way down into a bog basically) but it keeps going, and then at 30+ mph the engine revs up and grabs, revs up and grabs. Idk whether the belt is slipping or the clutch is slipping or the CVT is just acting up.

I put 3/4 quart of 20w50 and 1/4 quart engine honey to see if the thick oil would quiet it down. Haven't ran it from a cold start yet but after the 20 mile drive home the knock is much quieter. All but gone. Now it has a tap at idle that turns into kind of a light fast rattle at speed. Its not very loud and its very light sounding, like a valve tap. Seems like it could go on like this for quite a while.

Ohp found the problem. There was NO oil in it. The previous owner told me he changed the oil every 1000 miles and it was just about due for another oil change. So now this nice piece of machinery is trash because no one put any oil in it.

Actually it does sound like it has a knock. Can't hear it at idle but when you get on the throttle it does it. Not bad, but it wasn't there before.

I was cruising 65-70 mph on my Elite 250 that I just got and after about 15 miles it acted like it was seizing or like the CVT belt was going (started slowing down rapidly like I put on the brakes). Naturally I let off the throttle quick and got in the shoulder. As I came down to 40 mph it seemed fine again. Engine doesn't tap or knock, has plenty of power, drives fine.... Any idea what just happened?

The photo you posted there- is it the first generation or second? I was under the impression the first gen Elites were more boxy but mine looks like that one.

Ditched my Chinese 150 and bought a 1985 Honda Elite (Ch250) for $50 less. Its butt ugly but boy does it drive nice. Everything is so cushy and smooth. Its in OK shape, 13,000 miles, everything on it works properly. The brake pedal is s cool feature.

I want to get another 250 and I have two choices in my local area. A 2008 Chinese 250 (Jonway, Roketa, JmStar, who cares) with 5,000 miles on it or a 1985 Honda Elite 250 (Ch250) with 13,000 miles. Both have clean titles and are running and driving. When I ask "what should I chose?" My criteria is
1. Reliability- how often does it have "breakdowns"? And how long does it last?
2. Which is more enjoyable in general?
I have owned a Roketa 250 but it was rough when I got it. It only had one problem which was it randomly died on the road and would restart a short time later with no explanation. But other than that I enjoyed it. Common sense says that the Honda will be of higher quality than a Roketa but I'm interested in real world experience from actual owners. So let's hear it!

OK thanks will check all of that. I didn't think to check the green ground wire at the headlight plug to ground. I hooked the low beams up to 12v from the ignition switch for now the wires that go to the headlight plug for high and low beams are cut right now but when I hit the high beam switch the battery voltage at idle drops from 12.5 to 11.9. So much fail happening in my wiring. I have a good batt neg to engine and engine to frame and engine into harness. And a wire coming out of the harness to ground up front.
