That is pretty bad for sure.
What did you do that caused such grief? .

Possible answer to your quest. www.gekgo.com/tech_manuals-1.htmlFollow down to near the bottom, about 2/3 or 3/4 of the way, and a Schwinn manual is mentioned. Not cheap. Also parts manuals. Not cheap. Maybe some lower cost help can be found here. .

A gallon or two is not that much. A slow fill would help stop the back splash.
I must do a slow fill on my car. If I pull the handle way up there is enough confusion in the tube to cause the pump to shut off. Now I must keep the handle in a slower position to keep the flow going. Different but similar problem.
Rate of fill. .

Google "linhai vog 260 michigan" without quotes. wn.com/VOG-30That was one that came up and located in Taylor Michigan. Try other searches and see what all might come up. .

You asked which president, let me show you how the big debt got started and by whom. Take a quick look at the chart I am posting a link too. Presidents across the top and congress in charge across the bottom. In 2006, during Bush's term, the far left in the Democrat party got elected and they put Pelosi and Reid into the driving positions. Bush could do little to stop their crazy spending as they put all their far left entitlements on to budget bills that Bush could do very little about by vetoing. Budgets for this and that, and especially for military just could not be vetoed. Take a look at when that budget overrun began and who was in charge. Before those far left types took over Bush had kept the budget in line with and below Clinton's highest debt. When Obama took over the debt went even higher and nothing he has tried has created jobs or lowered the debt. Here is the chart. I hope it helps some to understand the problem and where it came from and when it started. We need solutions more than we need political ideology driving things. Stop spending and lets have a balanced budget. I don't care which side starts that but that is more important that trying to be like Greece. Why that racist slur? He was fairly elected and there is no racist consideration going on. dshort.com/charts/federal-debt-to-gdp.html?federal-debt-to-gdp-politics-update.

Posting political nonsense can bring on great problems for this forum. It should be left out, along with religion.
To bad what you have just posted is not true at all. Obama is most likely on his first, and last, term as president. His financial methods are just not working and he did not take all the troops out of the middle east.
We can celebrate our independence day because we do have a military to go fight for our right to freedom. .

well i seen cortez as your location, you couldnt get me to ride that stretch between tucson and phoenix on a scooter...ever. if i could go around 90mph it still wouldnt be fast enough. Nice catch on my location. I must have been thinking of my move when I wrote my location when I joined this spring. It now should show Cortez, Colorado. After I actually move to Arizona I will change it again. Thanks again. .

BmWxPR, I assume you are talking about me. I did not mention Phoenix area in this thread but I did in a couple other threads. It turns out that we will probably end up in Casa Grande again. We lived there till about 5 years ago. Now, with the way real estate is going in Arizona, we have to bid on a bankruptcy house. Did that in Mesa but got out bid so now we have a bid in CG and it so far looks to be holding.
Tucson and Marana are not too far south of CG and I have friends in Tucson so I will probably go through your old stomping grounds occasionally. I don't think I will ride my scoot on I-10 but might try some of the side roads. .

BmWxPR, something I like about your scoot. Flat floors for the feet. Until I bought my scoot I always thought I would like flat floors but instead I got a high step over situation for water overflow tank and gas tank. Now I have no place to put a milk crate for extra cargo hauling. Next scoot that will be a more important thing for me to look for. .

I did the safety school thing in May of 2010. Passed, and glad I did the class. So I went and got the M on my drivers license and started really looking for which scoot I would buy. So 8 months later I ordered the scoot. Now just need more practice and confidence building. I would recommend the classes even for experienced riders. They do offer experienced classes as well.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Interesting in that I am in the same position as you say you are. I bought a MC 54 250B scooter this spring. But due to cold and winds I still have not much experience. I practice is neighborhood streets and parking lots. Sound familiar to you.
Well, I had about 12 miles of practice on it in two months time. So a week ago I decided to do something more adventurous. I decided to start out and if I felt good I would leave the neighbor hood streets and go for a ride. I left home, felt good, made a run down a busy street, zigged around some other traffic filled streets, crossed the highway and went into a store to buy an item. Came out, reversed my path and headed home.
Safe at home and here were my experiences. First busy street at a busy 4 way stop. My turn but the person on my right did not seem to be slowing so I was watching an braking. Suddenly he stopped, looked surprised, and I accelerated and crossed the intersection. Then I noticed a person tailgating. Not much I could do and was close to my left turn off. On the way back nothing much happened that I was not expecting until close to home. I turned on my left turn lights and that seemed to make it OK for those behind me to pass on my right, not a multi lane street either.
Since then still no rides but my next plan is to go on to our Main Street, four lanes plus parking, state highway through town, lots of tourist gawker's, slow and speeding drivers, and plenty of stop lights. It should be interesting and probably a good test of my observations and reactions.
Step out as you feel you can. No need to force the issue and get over your head. I think when I progress step by step I will one day wonder why I was so extra cautious as a 78 year old starter in the scooter/motorcycle riding activity.
I have a reason for buying the 250cc class of scooter. I wanted something that could go fast enough for me to ride on any street I chose too. But also had to think about the weight I would need to keep upright, or get upright, if I went down. My daughters 1500cc Voyager was way to much for me to ever lift.
I am having fun with my scoot but wish I had more time with it. Now that summer has arrived we may have more opportunities without the cold days, but the winds are still coming at us at 50 mph rates with micro burst in them. Those conditions take down trees and fences so I don't ride much. If I would just ride in the early morning it would be OK but by afternoon it gets a bit frisky.
Fourth of July is a great day. That is my birthday as well and the national holiday. .

Air filter status: clean. Valve adjusters: discovered. Thanks guys, I appreciate the help. Upon further investigation, I've discovered that it is the Linhai model, not the Honda clone. SO what kind of belt and where can I get one? Mines an automatic btw, I didn't know they even made manual scooters, but I keep seeing mention of a clutch; dunno if that makes any difference, just thought I'd throw it out there. Also, playing around in the guts, I came across this brass cover plate that had a spring under it, and a rubber circular object with a small pin needle sticking out the end, which out of foolish curiosity, I took out, now it's not starting!! Gah. I'm afraid I may have pulled a 'typical female' move and messed with something that shouldn't have been messed with, lol. I'm hoping not! Any idea what that was? >.< Since you have decided that you have a Linhai engine I was wondering if you could tell me if the first numbers of your VIN are 5RY. If so your model is likely MC-54 B-250 How am I doing so far? I have been trying for a long time to understand the names applied and what you get. Getting close and will soon post what I have been finding. I hope I can find something informational to post, but maybe not. .

Most likely it is a Honda clone. If the VIN starts with LJ4, then it is a Honda. Another way to see is if it is a vertical engine it is a Honda, if it is a horizontal engine it is a Linhai.
For the carburetor idle adjustment screw. Lift the seat. Locate a rectangular panel with two screws. Remove the screws and take off the panel. You should be able to see the carburetor and one of the screws will have a spring under it. This is to the rear of the panel opening. That is the screw you will turn to raise or lower the idle speed. Turn only very small amounts, like a 1/8th of a turn and wait a few seconds for the engine to steady to the new mix. Watch your tach and readjust up or down as needed until the tach shows approximately 1800 rpm. I forget which way is up or down so check your tach and see which way the rpm's are going as you make the 1/8th turns.
I will let someone else tell you about valve adjustments as I have not done that on my scoot yet.
Best solution for the gas gage is to fill the tank and keep track of miles driven. At some determined miles, get more gas. Pick 100 miles or 150 miles, or what ever you feel comfortable with. .

The charging issues aren't with the 54B. It's the 244cc cfmoto versions (usually 54A) - you have the Linhai motor which doesn't suffer from these same charging issues (lucky! lol) Regarding your headlight upgrades. I don't think anyone here has gone that high in wattage.. any heat/melting problems? I have a MC 54 250B and it is registered that way by the state. It is the Honda clone water cooled engine of 244cc, I am told, but all papers call it a 250cc, My Certificate of Origin says MC-54-250B. I am just bringing this up as I have seen this conversation about A or B before. Not real sure where the confusion comes from. .

smokindawg, thanks for that description. Something I was afraid of. I would think that something that has a potential for rework or maintenance would have a clearer and easier way to get to it. I look at my dash and see several screws and hoped that removing them would get me into the lamp and wiring positions. So I will wait till after we move before attempting to fix my problem. I hope that turtle8 has a successful effort and can put together a nice clean follow up report. A few photo's would be very helpful too. .
