Have you checked your starter motor itself yet ? Does the starter click or turnover ? Might not hurt to check it so it can be ruled out. The outer body of the starter motor is grounded by the engine . One must always use one of the brakes to start . Thats how it is on my roketa . Battery ? check your connections at the cables where they come in from the frame. The green wire is always grounded on the engine ( how its on mine) from the negitive on my battery. How many red wires do you have for the positive ?

The spark gets triggered when the flywheel goes over the magnetic trigger switch mounted on the crankcase . IT's a part of the stator assembly . I would check the stator assembly just to be sure that isn't part of the problem. The tech section in the electrical folder has a pdf on how to do that . My scoot ran into a simmilar issue in July and after runnig diagnostics with the help of sprocket and Bashan , it was determined that I had to replace the stator to fix it !

Rich knew this wan't exactly going to be easy trouble shooting for the inexpierenced novice. He wanted something that tho technical in nature it would be understandable for the non mechanic 's in the forum ! Any feedback would be much appreciated if you have something to add to this thread ! Just let Rich know ! will ;D p.s. He did a great job on getting this trouble shooting guide together !! ;D ;D ;D

If your a mechanical type of person , you could put a new cylinder and piston in yourself ! It woul save $$$ in the long run. Add that there is lots of help here on this forum and online if you get yourself into trouble. will

One more quick note . The idle will continue to do what its doing reguardless of a new cdi and sparkplug and other ignition related upgrades. What your expierencing could be typical of the engine ( similar to mine). will c.

The idle when it first starts is higher due to the auto choke . My scoot also does run abit rougher when the engine gets fully warmed up at lower idle . You might adjust up the idle speed screw( not the air fuel screw) , where the throttle cable ends, on the carb to idle abit faster . The issue you are having isn't something to worry about (extremly) . willc.
