i had the same problem with my 150 until i adjusted the valves cost nothing to do but a little time

take strips of sheetmetal and selftapper screws works great and if you plan where and how you put them in looks good too

check the cable ends that connect to the battery and check all your grounds

with the cover off will the motor turn over easier and like Ally said take a few pics of the motor with the cover off and of the inside of the cover some thing is binding the motor up with the cover on and we can not see what is going on without pics

is the motor hard to turn over pull the plug out and try turning the motor by hand it should be easy with out the plug in

i have to go with what rob63 is saying could have def. cam sproket on the crank or the wrong chain in it
