thermostat

The thermostat is used to allow the coolant to stay in the radiator long enough to remove the heat.....and then it opens to allow the coolant to circulate through the engine and remove the heat......it is a heat transfer operation....you need to install a good thermostat....once the coolant becomes hot ...it never is allowed to cool enough to close the thermostat to allow cooling to work...clear as mud....right...

I also had the center stand cushion wheel break in half and caused the stand to contact the engine case and sounded like a rod knocking..off the stand no sound.....I removed the CVT cover and checked the variator....clutch....belt...all was great....after 5000 miles....then rode the scoot and the knock was still there....another scootdawg told me check the cushion wheel and sure enough it was making all the noise...

Go to library.....250cc-300cc....engine and exhaust....257cc Linhai/clone valve adjust..and there is a guide to adjusting the valves on your scoot...after adjustment you can adjust the idle....

It sounds like the valves need to be adjusted..... .004 intake... .005 or .006 exhaust... you did not give the mileage....also drain the gas and put in fresh.... if you are going to leave the gas in it for that long of a period....use a fuel stablizer.... it should idle at 1700-2000 rpms..the valves have alot to do with how an engine runs.... also replace the fuel filter....

Try Ebay for the belt...856-23...the number should be on the belt if there is anything left of it......a vendor has the belt for $9.00 plus freight...the belt sells for 50 to 60 bucks else where...I bought two... just search the belt number...856-23.....enjoy your scoot...

blow by

Hi....the blowby is normal...every engine has it...you can not seal up the cylinder 100 percent...so you will see crankcase pressure or blowby... the valves have nothing to do with the blowby you speak of....blowby will be less as the rings seat...the valves have to close completely to have compression....which gives you vaccum to operate the fuel pump and draw fuel into the engine...intake-compression-power-exhaust....a 4 stroke engine...the engine does not have hydraulic lifters so we have to adjust the valves.... .004 intake and .005/.006 exhaust...this allows the valve to close when the engine comes up to operating temp...enjoy the ride...

Hi...just a note...have you adjusted the valves...this one thing causes more probs that anyone can imagine....on the 257 cc ..... .004 on the intake and .005 or .006 on the exhaust...if you have the 244....not sure.... I have 5200 miles on my MC54B-257...2008 Roketa and I have adjusted the valves once and but I did put a manual choke on and that has cured my hard starting in the morning or first start of the day... now it idles like it is suppose to 1700-2000 rpm.... 3yrs of riding the scoot..not bad....enjoy the ride...
