Thanks everyone! I drove the scoot to work today 40 mile round trip and it ran great. She also got caught in her first flash rainstorm, the shipping folks didn't tell me my cover and brake lever had arrived . I happened to check the tracking number and noticed they had been delivered. Went down and grabbed the box, walked up 3 flights of stairs and noticed it was sprinkling. Ran down the 3 flights, hit the back door, and lo and behold a sheet of rain greeted me.... Needless to say, no point in covering the scoot at that point. Sun came out after 5 minutes and it was almost dry by time to go home. Fortunately I had put a towel in the helmet box this morning when I dried the dew off the seat. She kept up with traffic even in the 50mph sections, and it was great getting the 2-wheel wave from bikers and a scooterist on the way!

Scoot arrived Tuesday, been working on PDI and took it out tonight for the break-in. Drive like a dream, I remember when driving aimlessly in my car used to be fun. The scoot was great to run around on with no purpose but to put miles on it!

Fortunate? I live in Alabama like Bashan and we don't have emissions testing here. I will take a look at the link and see where to go from there. Have to go buy a vacuum T to replace the crappy Y they used that keeps pinching off my petcock vacuum line. Then carb adjust and break in time!!!!!

Any down side to removing the charcoal canister and the associated lines etc? I was also looking to block of the egr on the valve cover whilst checking the valve clearance. I thought I had looked at EGR blockoff plates, but I cant remember where I saw them. Any help is appreciated.

Would it be "safe" to assume that the GY6B long case is the one with 16" wheels?

I assume there is a 150cc long case with disc that doesn't allow 16" wheels? That or I'm grabbing some 16"s when my bike shows up next week!

That's part of the issue, I don't have the scoot yet. I was working on eliminating a couple things right off the bat. Supposedly this motor is high-compression so I was going to grab the breather, a k&n and some jets so I was ready to go after pdi.

For a 150cc GY6 what is the proper I.D. of the connector? Some aftermarkets say 38mm, some 44mm and others 45mm. I was considering just grabbing the 44mm and figured it would fit if i moved up to a bigger than stock carb eventually.

That's the same size to what I used on the VW, I guess I figured someone made a smaller setup. Hmmm, now if I only had metal fab tools..... I could be rich!!! ;D

Has anyone tried installing an in-line oil filter? I figured with running an external oil cooler, I could just add a screw on filter to give filtering beyond the capabilities of the metal screen. I did this back in the day on my VWs. My only concern is if it would impede the external pump or if I should look for one with a slightly higher flow rate. If I remember right, JR was using a 20 GPH pump.

So what I'm thinking is cut out the grille similar to the exhibit 4, then use a 140mm 12 volt dc fan instead of the mechanical. What kind of current excess is available on average or is it dependent on the bike?

So here is my plan. Take the stock plastic shroud, remove the grill. Take some chicken wire type fencing stuff I use for auto grills and make a screen for the shroud. If it works out well, then I will probably buy the CF shroud from GY6 and mod it too.

I have been going through the oil cooler faqs. I had an external oil cooler on my 71' Super Beetle that we had mounted outside the decklid in a homemade turbo tail. I was looking at throwing something together for the scoot, but then I realized without it here, it's hard to really figure out exactly what I need when I can't take measurements. Good to know that the scoops don't help! I had my eye on one. This is the chrome fan I was looking at. The carbon one was on your link. www.monstergy6.com/product_cooling_fan.htm#109
