I put in the 85 since I had it. I don't see any negative change in performance. I think it's time to repair the broken things that can be lived with like the right brake lever that has the tip broken off and the blinkers that don't work.

I put the filter on today and rode around. I'm not sure if any of this is related but here are my impressions It seems to run smoother, not as much vibration It seems louder which I'm not happy about It feels to have a little more low end power. Top end seems unaffected This could all be in my head and maybe the filter makes no difference, I dunno The change in volume could mean my jb weld stud fix failed. I'll have to look under it monday to be sure. As far as the tube coming from the valve cover goes, I just zip tie it to the frame, right? I read you shouldn't block it. I'll also do a plug chop monday to see if I'm running too lean. I've got an 81 in there now, it was the stock jet in the sealed carb that came with the scooter. Maybe I was too rich before I replaced the airbox with the filter. 81 seems big for a 49cc. (Though it may be a secret 63) I didn't use my GPS app to test speed. But I was hitting 40mph on the chinometer So what is that, like 28mph in real life . At least I didn't seize

I'm having trouble finding an 83. Can I do 85 without going too rich?

It was my understanding that if I replace the stock airbox with a foam filter I need to richen the air/fuel mix since I'm adding more air. Do I have that wrong?

As I mentioned in another post, my airbox fell apart while I was riding it. I got it put back together but I figured I'd better replace it. I ordered a foam filter from scooter parts express. Do I need to oil the filter? I heard that somewhere. I already have an 81 jet but I ordered an 85. Is that too big or should I look for a 82 or 83 Thanks

What would be a good choice for an air filter?

I'm out for a little ride on my Tao Tao atm 50 and it seems to sound different. I couldn't put my finger on it but it didn't sound like it usually did. I got home and found the airbox unattached. Not only that my carb was ready to fall off my intake. I want to upgrade my intake to a better quality one and while I'm at it replace the airbox with an air filter. I'm running an 81 jet that was in the stock sealed carb. If I go to an air filter, how much more should I rejet? I'm happy with the performance of my bike, I just want to prevent disaster with parts falling off. Thanks.

Seems that when I installed a new belt I didn't tighten my cvt nut enough. It made a terrible noise. I snuggled it down good with socket and rode it. That was yesterday. I rode it even more today...arrgh! It happened again. Like a moron, I didn't have any tools on me so I walked it home. This time I used blue locktite and used my 12v impact gun from Harbor Freight. I'm hoping it will stay on now. Wish me luck

It really depends on the community. In the suburbs the towns revenue depends on tickets. Here in the city, law enforcement has bigger fish to fry. I have many friends and family who cary a badge and I know for a fact most of the time a middle aged guy on a scooter is the least of their worries.

Of course next question is, do I futz with it to get a scooch more speed or leave well enough alone.
I think we all know the answer to that

In all fairness it could be a secret 63 but I didn't see any markings. It is a 1p39qmb and when I unsealed the stock carb it had an 81 jet in it. But until the time comes when I measure the bore, I'm calling it a 50.

I took the cvt cover off and there was nothing loose in there. Ran it up and down the alley and it sounded ok. Ill have to keep an ear on it.

I have sliders and a new belt on its way.
I heard that noise when I first had it running, then it was gone, now it's back. I once thought it was the valves, but it sounds like its coming from the cvt to me. It kind of sounds like loose bolts rattling around
