Could be as simple as a bad engine ground wire.. seen it hundreds of times...check the green wire going from the engine to the frame... but John tvnacman is the go to guy for electrical stuff...

You might try a head from a GY6-B engine like the one from Scrappy...they have a different stud spacing than stock GY6s
Perhaps you will need to go with a 63mm BBK that will bolt right on... the 161QML is a very rare duck!
They tend to be on the 3 wheelers and are called 189cc Wangyes

Good luck.. I think you have found the problem... the nut should only be pressing on the washer and not on the outside of the SC... I think you may of had the nut on backwards and it was putting pressure on the case...
Please let us know...

The one that spits oil.. you should put into a can to catch the oil so you don't get it all over the scooter and the environment.. I don't want your oil ... thanks

I think your aftermarket clutch is the problem...it is probably out of spec... Here are the parts... there is NO WAY it should bind when you tighten that nut... Attachments:

OK, if you tighten it up and the clutch stops working then there is a problem with the washer, it shouldn't effect the operation of the clutch by tightening that nut...
As I recall it is an aftermarket clutch with 20 bearings?
I would try a second thin washer under the nut and see if you can get it tight without binding...

Yeah I suspect it will move out hit the case and ruin the needle bearings...
It may have enough room to become disengaged form the idler gear and then you won't have any electric start at all
Is the woodruff key good and tight? You DO have a woodruff key on the shaft?

Not a good idea...
I wanted to ask you... you have both a bolt and a large flat washer on the shaft?
I can't see how you are having problems if you are using the washer...

Good call from your buddy.. sounds to me like engine mounts as Alley mentioned.. check your bolts there too.. they could be loose...
Heck .. I spent two months looking for a weird rattle and finally found it was the foot peg on the kick starter!!!
It only did it between 35 and 37 mph...
